Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheridan Costa.
Hi Sheridan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2013 I brought my dream of creating a contemporary art gallery and boutique in a converted old Polish convent and that’s where The Alchemy of Art started. Almost every month we’ve held a new exhibition with an opening reception on the first Thursday of each month along with countless courtyard craft and fleas, musical events and comedy events.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Selling art is no easy job but it is a passion
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Alchemy of Art?
We are a local contemporary art gallery and boutique! We feature local and nonlocal artists of all medium. We have a new exhibit every month other than February and July with our opening reception always being on the first Thursday of each month. We also hold creative events (craft, music or comedy). And we also rent out the location for events which is where the courtyard shines.
Any big plans?
We look forward to every opening reception, seeing an artist exhibition grace the wall giving its own unique vibe is always exciting. We are excited for our September exhibition with Michael Owen of the Baltimore Love project, out October Anniversary show with Antonio González and our participation with NCECA (National Council of Education of the Ceramics Arts) in March 2027
