Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Crosby.
Hi Sara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From the start, the story of this studio has been a story of community. Prior to opening in January 2025, our downtown DC location was already home to a beloved aerial yoga studio, the only one in the whole city! I was a longtime instructor there and it was definitely one of my favorite places – and favorite group of people – to teach.
When the owner decided to downsize and sell off this part of the business, they sent an email to some of us they thought would be interested in taking over the space.
Before I saw the email, word got out and a student approached me later that day to ask if I wanted to buy a yoga studio? With no context, I was surprised to say the least! While I’d been teaching for 15+ years, leading retreats and hosting yoga festivals, running a full-on yoga studio wasn’t something I’d seen in the cards.
But then she went on to tell me how much this studio, this practice and this community meant to her, and I knew I had to protect that, for her and for everyone here. So I went looking for that email, and I read it from a completely different perspective than had I not spoken to her first.
This studio was literally created for this community, and watching it grow and evolve has been so transformational, for all of us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When launching a new business – especially in DC, and especially at this point in time – struggle is pretty much a guarantee.
Luckily I was coming into an existing yoga space, and building from there. People were used to physically coming to the location, which makes a big difference. I had a sense of what class times, styles and teachers worked, and what didn’t. I had instructors that wanted to stay and students that never wanted to leave! So all those little struggles – while seemingly huge at the time – in retrospect felt like they were all manageable.
I’d say our challenge now is in growing our community beyond those founding members and letting more folks know that we’re here and still the only place for aerial yoga in Washington DC!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
More than just classes, endlessOM Yoga & Aerial is an experience!
At our studio, we offer Vinyasa Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Pilates, and Strength Training, as well as completely unique fusions of these practices that can’t be found anywhere else in the DMV.
Along with some of the top instructors in the region, our initial intent was to take the rich blend of tradition and innovation one might find at a yoga festival or retreat, and bring it into the neighborhood yoga studio model – where anyone at any level can find peace, cultivate strength and build community.
But it’s that very community that makes an endlessOM experience about so much more than our amazing classes and brilliant teachers. It’s the warmth, inclusivity and vibrancy you’ll find within our beautiful sunlit studio that makes us so special. Whether you’re flowing through a class, booking a massage, joining one of our special weekend events, or hosting a private event of your own, endlessOM is a place where movement, connection, and celebration all come together under one roof.
