Hi Robin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
t all started with me doing my own hair. My best friend, Charmaine, asked me to do hers, and that’s when I did my first set of faux locs—it took me almost two days lol. After that, people started asking me to do their hair, and I began taking it more seriously. Once I started doing locs, everything else was history.
At the time, I had been working at a prison for seven years. After my father passed, I made a promise to myself that I was going to go to school, get my cosmetology license, and work for myself.
In July 2023, during the summer, my hot water heater flooded my apartment, which forced me to stay in a hotel for two weeks. During that time, my friend Bryant—who had been trying to get me into his shop for the past 2–3 years—told me I could come work there. I was nervous at first, but I took the leap.
Honestly, it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I left my job at the prison, and since October 2023, I’ve been working for myself.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Honestly, no—and I wouldn’t expect it to be. I truly believe everyone goes through trials and tribulations, but I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Every challenge has shaped me into who I am today.
As long as I stay positive and keep God at the center of my life, I know there’s nothing I can’t overcome. My faith keeps me grounded, and my mindset keeps me moving forward.
I’m incredibly blessed to have a strong support system my family, my friends, and my clients. Their love and support mean everything to me, and they continue to push me to be better every day.
At the end of the day, my biggest goal is to make my parents proud, along with everyone who believes in me. I do this not just for myself, but for my family, my friends, and my clientele. I love them all, and I’m truly grateful for each and every one of them.

I specialize in locs, including starter locs, retwists, styles, and overall maintenance. I’m known for promoting healthy locs and making sure every client leaves not only looking good, but feeling confident and educated about their hair.
What sets me apart is the experience I provide. I create a comfortable, positive environment where my clients feel valued. I take my time, I listen, and I make sure I’m giving each person exactly what they need for their loc journey—healthy hair is always my priority.
What I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built. My clients are like family, and the trust and loyalty they have for me means everything.
