Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Williams.
Hi Precious, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
A love story started my entrepreneurial journey. I was once a disgruntled attorney who was lost. I met a very famous Hollywood actor who, despite me being 327 pounds, actually loved me, all of me. This inspired me to start my first company, “Curvy Girlz Lingerie,” and the rest is history. Since none of my family and friends believed in my business, I had to pitch my way to gain money and investments in my company. My first pitch landed me on national television, my 2nd pitch won me hundreds of thousands of dollars. Then came me winning 13 national pitch championships where I became the #KillerPitchMaster.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, there were bumps along the road. My own fear, worry and doubt about my abilities to run a company. After my love died, I turned to alcohol to cope and lost everything. I tried to take my own life when I was 38 years old. Luckily, my attempt did not work. I came out of addiction, homelessness and being cancelled on social media to embracing every mistake, every flaw and still using those as my secret weapon. I overcame it all to restart my 2nd business, Perfect Pitches by Precious, LLC.
As you know, we’re big fans of Perfect Pitches by Precious. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
To understand me is to understand my experience. I once weighed 327 pounds and somehow used my moxie, grit and determination to talk my way into funding for a company that didn’t even exist — Curvy Girlz Lingerie. I made this company a reality and my ability to think on my feet, boldly break the rules and tell a story has since made me the #KillerPitchMaster. Some also refer to me as the female McGuyver of business!
I am a 13-time national elevator pitch champion who has also successfully appeared on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” CNN, Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Black Enterprise Magazine. I have since watched my clients win millions of dollars in pitch competition money, secure lucrative speaking and corporate training contracts, and launch their next beautiful NOW!
Besides helping women entrepreneurs and business leaders, I am a corporate sales trainer, helping teams to create killer communication skills, craft messaging and understand how to pitch and build sales programs. I’m also a world-class speaker/trainer for global brands including: Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Harvard University, Columbia University, George Washington University, Intuit Quickbooks, Yelp, and more. Never one to forget my roots, I give back by working with organizations like Bottomless Closet, the Bowery Mission Women’s Center, DreamWakers, Savvy Ladies, and Dress for Success. As an international professional speaker, I am also hired to Keynote global conferences, summits, and events.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
That it is always darkest before dawn. Your biggest breakthrough come after facing your biggest pains and mistakes. I learned to go through the pain, feel it, and actually deal with it. When I began to see that we all have a past, a painful one, but most give up. I was not ready to throw in the towel. I did have times when i could not pay rent, face my friends and felt lost. Yet, I pressed on and am so happy to that I had a breakdown that led to a breakthrough!

My husband and I are Baltimore natives. We own a growing commercial cleaning business in town center Virginia Beach Virginia. Our goal and dream is to one day pay it forward and return home to expand our business as well.
