Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Ross.
Hi Patrick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am Patrick Ross. Stage name PVTRK. Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia.
Currently residing in the great land of California. I have been a recording artist and songwriter for a great number of years. Since age 8, I started off as a singer and played with rapping here and there first, and with times of growth and puberty taking hold.
I had to adjust to the change. I took on a different persona in school and I started to take on the behind-the-scenes approach of learning how to become a recording/mixing engineer Learning from the Audio Engineer who helped me craft a demo tape in hopes of becoming an artist in the industry.
After graduating high school in 2010, I moved to San Diego, California, and Attended The Art Institute of Mission Valley – San Diego for a brief period.
Sometime after, I purchased some recording equipment and began recording, mixing, and mastering myself and a few San Diego artists locally starting to work for free once I made a buzz by landing some songs on iTunes and other streaming services; I turned what I love into my own business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t. Nothing comes easy. I have struggled many nights as an artist.
Bad management after management. Deal after bad deal promises not being kept a lot of money not earned. Just being green trying to get on in the industry (until the grace of independence at least). As an engineer yes, definitely!
Starting out it was a quality issue not that it was horrible, it’s just my sound wasn’t developed yet, listening back to some earlier mixes compared to now I am light years ahead of 7-8 years ago. And most of all being ahead of what’s new and fresh trying to maintain authenticity while updating with current times.
As you know, we’re big fans of PVTRK. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I started this to give a new approach to the music industry; a triple threat. (hence the name of the business) Performance/Recording Artist. Songwriter and Audio Engineer. Specializing in The world of music in many forms.
We are known for always being musically inclined prompt and always professional. What sets us apart from the competition is that it’s built on a love of music rather than just the love of money.
Though we are not a nonprofit we love our work and what we do always comes before the dollar that we have more experience in connection with the music; therefore it’s a better direct connection with clientele.
Brand-wise, I’m proud of just being. What we the readers know is that we love what we do and nothing gets ahead of the task at hand which made them better musicians in and out of recording studios and venues. We offer recording studio services and production.
Artist features and full song demos as songwriters. We built our brand on helping others and not just ourselves.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years, I see the industry going more mobile while keeping the foundation of what built the industry the same. There are constant things changing within the music industry so it’s our job to keep up!
Nothing works without a team. Sure you can do things singularly, but teamwork is essential to success
