Exploring Life & Business with Molly Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Reed.

Hi Molly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I grew up in a small town in Upstate New York called Saratoga Springs.

I attended James Madison University and found myself in Baltimore after graduation, beginning my career in the hotel business. For me, Baltimore was love at first sight! I loved the small feel of my neighborhood while still having access to “big city” amenities and settled in nicely as a Ravens and Orioles fan.

After 5 years of managing hotels, I felt burnt out and made the decision to sell everything and move to Spain for 3 months. 3 months quickly turned into almost 2 years of full-time travel where I got to experience different cultures all over the world.

While traveling a started a home furnishings business where I’d source curated items from countries like Morocco, India, and Thailand and sold them in a little shop back in The States.

After finishing my travels I found myself back in hotel management in Upstate NY where I met my now fiancé who happened to live in Baltimore!

After a year of dating, I moved back to the city I loved and decided it was time to marry my love for architecture, design, and entrepreneurship and dive into the world of real estate. I got licensed in 2019 and knew right away that it was the right path for me to be on.

I come from a family of entrepreneurs and small business owners and had always known that real estate was a passion of mine. I was the girl who was dragging her friends to open houses on weekends just for fun.

Being able to help people achieve their real estate goals, whether that be buying, selling, or investing has been the most rewarding (and fun!) career I’ve had. We recently purchased our own 1850s Fixer Upper in Federal Hill and have been enjoying the process of building our dream home together while documenting the progress on Instagram.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am a huge believer in the saying “Everything Happens for a Reason” and truly believe in living a life that’s fulfilling and fun.

There were times that I was questioned about my choices, for example quitting my corporate job with no idea of what I wanted to do next career-wise. Believing in myself and learning to trust my intuition didn’t come easily.

Every choice I’ve made (whether scary or not) has led to where I am today and I’m grateful for my journey.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a licensed Realtor in Maryland for almost 3 years now. My love for architecture and design coupled with my entrepreneurial spirit has struck a perfect balance in running my own real estate business. I absolutely love helping clients buy and sell homes and realize their real estate goals.

With a background in luxury hotel management, my number one focus is my clients and my goal is to be a total real estate resource in Maryland. In an industry where there are a lot of shiny objects and a “hustle culture,” my goal is to do GOOD WORK. I provide the absolute best experience to my clients through transparency, open communication, and thorough follow.

Through social media, I’m able to provide value to my community and teach about the real estate industry. In turn, over 90% of my business comes from social media marketing and past client/referral business- something that in my third year of real estate I’m very proud of.

Property Spark included me in The Top 20 Realtors in Baltimore on Instagram and I was also just named April’s Rising Star by Baltimore Real Producer- a publication for the top 500 producing agents in the Baltimore Metro area.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Let me first start by saying that I LOVE Baltimore.

When I moved here in 2010 it was love at first sight. Being able to walk out my front door and walk along the harbor, hit the neighborhood bar, and go to the gym or grocery store is a major plus for me. I also love the pride that Baltimoreans have for their city.

Nothing better than drinking a Natty Boh while picking crabs and watching an O’s game on the water. We all know Baltimore has its fair share of issues though, and the crime levels are my least favorite part about Baltimore.
