Exploring Life & Business with Kimberly Savel-Turek of Room to Breathe Professional Organizing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Savel-Turek.

Hi Kimberly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into professional organizing began from a deep love of creating calm, functional spaces — both for myself and for others. I’ve always believed that our environments have a profound impact on how we feel and how we show up in the world.

After years of helping friends and family transform their homes, I realized this was more than just a personal passion — it was a calling. I decided to turn that passion into a profession and launched Room to Breathe Professional Organizing. What started as small, one-on-one projects has grown into a thriving business built on compassion, collaboration, and the belief that everyone deserves a space that supports their life, not adds to their stress.

Today, I have the privilege of helping clients clear physical and mental clutter, create systems that truly work for them, and ultimately find Room to Breathe in their homes and lives.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most meaningful journeys, it hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape me and my business for the better. In the beginning, I faced the same hurdles many small business owners do: learning how to balance the creative side of what I love with the demands of running a business. There was a lot of trial and error, especially when it came to pricing my services, building systems, and trusting myself to take bold steps forward.

Another challenge has been helping clients navigate the emotional side of organizing. Clutter isn’t just “stuff” — it’s often tied to memories, grief, and identity. Holding space for those emotions while keeping the process positive and productive has taught me so much about empathy and patience.

Through it all, I’ve learned to trust the process, to grow slowly, stay true to my values, and remember why I started: to help people create space for what truly matters.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Room to Breathe Professional Organizing helps clients create calm, functional spaces that truly support the way they want to live. We specialize in hands-on home organizing — from closets and kitchens to basements and entire-home systems — with a focus on creating solutions that are both beautiful and sustainable.

What sets us apart is our approach. Organizing isn’t just about putting things in bins or making a space look pretty; it’s about understanding each client’s lifestyle, habits, and goals so the systems we create actually work long-term. I lead with empathy and meet people where they are, without judgment, and guide them through a process that feels supportive, not overwhelming.

I’m especially proud of the trust our clients place in us. Many come to us feeling stuck or embarrassed by their clutter, and leave feeling lighter and more in control, and proud of their spaces again. That transformation — both physical and emotional — is at the heart of what we do.

At its core, Room to Breathe is about more than organizing homes; it’s about creating the space for people to breathe, reset, and thrive.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a mentor and building a strong network has been one of the most valuable parts of my journey. My best advice is to start by connecting with people who genuinely inspire you — not just those who are “successful,” but those whose values align with your own. Authentic relationships will take you so much further than transactional ones ever could.

For me, networking has been about showing up, having honest conversations, and learning from others in my field. I’ve connected with fellow professional organizers, local business owners, and colleagues in related industries, and those relationships have been incredibly supportive. I’ve learned so much from seeing how others approach their businesses, share ideas, and overcome challenges — and many of those connections have become mentors, collaborators, and friends.

Networking isn’t about collecting contacts; it’s about building real relationships. Show up with curiosity, be willing to learn, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The right people will meet you with the same energy, and those relationships can have a lasting impact on your growth personally and professionally.
