Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon’ll Boyd.
Hi Jon’ll, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Jon’ll began her career in corporate sales, marketing, and event strategy before launching The Eventful Life Enterprises, a lifestyle and consulting company focused on empowering founders particularly women to build purpose-driven, sustainable businesses. Her work blends brand strategy, experiential marketing, and leadership development, helping organizations connect authentically with their audiences while driving measurable growth.
During the pandemic, Jon’ll applied her marketing and events expertise to enter the wine industry alongside her husband, Matthew. Through creative brand activations, strategic storytelling, and community-led engagement, Boyd Cru Wines successfully leveraged crowdfunding and investor partnerships to open its first tasting room in Savage Mill, MD in under two years. The winery has earned multiple industry accolades, including Maryland Winemaster’s Choice Gold and Silver Medals and a Governor’s Cup Bronze Medal, and has been featured nationally in Forbes, Black Enterprise, Essence, and NBC.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Distributing and improving access to our wines has been a struggle that we have worked hard to overcome. We currently \ have a tasting room, but for a long time we did not. We didn’t have the money or the space and instead offered the option of purchasing our wines only online. However, this sometimes became a deterrent if people want to taste the wine first or avoid the added cost of shipping fees. We have been able to address this by partnering with community organizations, nonprofits and other small businesses to host wine experiences throughout the state. We were also fundraising and scouting locations for a tasting room, which will also serve as a community marketplace, in 2024. Eventually we crowdsourced 125k which helped us to purchase our tasting room and expand offerings.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Boyd Cru Wine is built on a passion for making wine approachable, elevated, and deeply personal. We specialize in curated wine experiences, thoughtfully selected bottles, and storytelling that connects people to what’s in their glass. Whether it’s through tastings, private events, or curated selections, our focus is always on quality, authenticity, and creating memorable moments around wine.
What sets Boyd Cru Wine apart is our intentionality. We do not just offer wine, we offer perspective. Every bottle we feature is chosen with care, often highlighting small producers, unique regions, and wines that overdeliver on both character and value. We aim to bridge the gap between wine enthusiasts and those just beginning their journey, removing intimidation and replacing it with curiosity and confidence.
As a brand, we are most proud of how we blend education with experience. We create spaces, both physical and social, where people feel comfortable asking questions, discovering new favorites, and building their own taste profiles. Boyd Cru Wine is not about exclusivity, it is about inclusion, culture, and connection.
We want readers to know that Boyd Cru Wine is more than a wine business. It is a lifestyle brand rooted in discovery, community, and elevated everyday experiences. Whether you are attending an event, exploring a recommendation, or simply looking to enjoy a great bottle, we are here to guide, inspire, and celebrate the journey with you. We’re also intentional about uplifting other community members through our Cru Collaborative program.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is creating balance between my personal life and the work I feel called to do. It is important to me that I am able to build my business while still being present with my husband and our children, instead of feeling like I have to choose between the two. Being able to integrate family, entrepreneurship, and personal growth is something I truly value.
I also prioritize making time for myself. Starting my day with things like working out, meditating, and journaling helps me stay grounded and intentional. That space allows me to show up as my best self in every area of my life.
At my core, I find happiness in building something that has real impact. Creating community, opening doors for others, and building a legacy, especially for underrepresented communities, gives my work deeper meaning. For me, happiness comes from living with intention, staying connected to the people I love, and creating something that is bigger than me.
