Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaina Busby.
Hi Elaina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely! Pure Body Essentials wasn’t always my plan. Before a business owner, I’m a full-time working wife and mom of one handsome, energetic 2-year-old son. I’ve had eczema for as long as I can remember, and I had to use prescription-strength steroid cream to treat it. While pregnant with our son, it was hard finding a moisturizer that had ingredients I could trust and wouldn’t be harmful to our unborn child. So, I began researching natural ingredients that would help soothe my dry, itchy skin. The first product I created was a whipped vegan body butter. It proved to be effective enough for my husband (who swore by the leading “sensitive” lotion brand), but still contained mindful ingredients that made it safe for my baby and I. When I gave out samples to our family and friends to try, they loved it! They raved about it being better than anything they had ever tried. People were willing to pay for it and I couldn’t make the body butter fast enough! My brilliant husband and family encouraged me to make enough to sell and I haven’t stopped since!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I wouldn’t say the road has been smooth. For my journey, the greatest challenge was and still is work-life balance. In addition to running a successful business, I have a full-time career and a family. It’s hard shutting off my laptop at a decent hour. I’m always brainstorming. However, I always set aside “family-time”. I typically work on my business and fill orders after my son goes to sleep.
I know I couldn’t manage to juggle my duties without the help of my husband. He’s been a constant supporter throughout this journey since the beginning. I can’t thank him enough for never saying no when I ask him to test out a product or a scent in the middle of a football game or spending his whole Saturday with me at a pop-up event. We have a strong village (family) who help with our son while my husband and I do pop-up events or fill large custom orders. Teamwork really does make the dream work!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Pure Body Essentials, we pride ourselves in creating handcrafted, plant-based skincare that deliver nourishing benefits to the skin through all-natural ingredients. All of our products are vegan, non-toxic, and handcrafted in small batches for the best quality.
Pure Body Essentials is about family. It’s built by and run by family. It was created by a mother with her family’s sensitive skin needs in mind. As a mother, I desired safe alternatives for the everyday products my family and I used. From the beginning, my desire has been to help other families like mine find everyday personal care essentials that are toxin-free and have mindful ingredients. The same products we sell are the same products we use in our household, so they can be trusted!
We just celebrated our one-year company anniversary in August! It’s hard to believe that in one short year we’ve sold over 1500 items and have shipped to 20 states so far. Our goal is to ship our products to every state across the United States and eventually, make our products available internationally.
We now offer custom event favors! Whether it’s a girl’s trip, sister’s circle, baby shower, bridal shower or a wedding, we can create custom favors to fit any budget and occasion. Another thing to note about our company is that we’re a sustainable company, we want to do our part to help the environment. Our products are packaged in glass and we ship using recycled packaging materials. We encourage our customers to reuse or recycle their empty PBE containers. We’ve implemented a “Recycle Rewards” program where we offer a discount to our customers who return their empty PBE containers to us. We then clean, sanitize and re-purpose those containers.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be our family gatherings on Christmas Eve. The house would be cozy, the smell of a fresh balsam fir and good food filled the air while the sounds of classic Christmas albums played in the background. We’d play games, exchange gifts and at some point, when the right song came on, my grandmother and uncle would begin to two-step in the center of the floor. My family would always find a reason to gather together, it didn’t have to be a holiday. I think this is why family means so much to me.

I’m thanking God for this young lady. Her products have truly helped my family and I. I recently found out that I was a diabetic. I was devastated, I haven’t been the healthiest when it cames to eating, but I’ve always taken care of my skin. It seemed as though as soon as I found out about the diabetes, my skin changed almost over night. The dryness was everywhere- my hands, my feet and my legs. My body needed moisture and I found out that the Pure Body Essentials’ products worked! They have worked wonders for my. Now I have moisturized and soft skin. I will continue to use Pure Body Essentials after my baths and throughout the day to keep my skin beautiful. Oh and by the way I’m 67 years young with no wrinkles.
