Based in Upper Marlboro, MD, Primetime Parties and Entertainment, LLC (PTP, LLC) is a family-owned, minority-owned, and woman-owned business that has evolved from a small mascot-focused venture to a full-service entertainment company. Founded by Devon Taliaferro, who was inspired by his experiences performing as a mascot for community events, PTP, LLC began with a simple mission: to offer fun, high-quality mascot characters. Over time, the company expanded its services to include decor, face painting, balloon twisting, glitter tattoos, caricature artistry, and much more. Today, PTP boasts an extensive collection of mascot costumes, bringing nearly any character to life for events in the DMV area.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path to entrepreneurship has been both rewarding and challenging. One of the biggest adjusting to the amount of work required to run a successful business while simultaneously juggling the responsibilities of being a full-time professional, father, fiancé, and entrepreneur. As a small business owner, I’ve faced significant hurdles, including limited cash flow, meeting the growing demand for our services, and competing with more established companies in the industry. Despite these challenges, each experience has been an opportunity for growth and improvement.
