Exploring Life & Business with Deema Ibeanu of Doses of Beaute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deema Ibeanu.

Hi Deema, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Hello everyone, my name is Deema, many of my clients also know me as Naomi.

Let me start by saying that I am the only girl of three children. Growing up, I didn’t have the luxury of having an elder sister who would teach me how to do my eyebrows, braid my hair, or apply makeup. I was forced to learn how to beautify myself on my own at a young age but thankfully, I am a quick learner, so many of these tasks weren’t challenging and came relatively easy to me. I officially joined the beauty industry in college where I met my very first hair vendor, Kevin, while in the campus library. From that connection, I started the sales of Indian hair bundles. My brand at the time was called “Sadity Virgin Hair Company”. Entrepreneurship fell in my lap, and I’ve been pursuing it ever since. In December 2017, I became a certified lash technician and created my brand, “Doses of Mink”. After years of perfecting my craft, starting off as home-based, traveling, and then working in a lash salon, I finally did branch out and got my own studio, which I now work from. Eventually, I wanted a brand that was more than just lashes so I rehabbed my brand from “Doses of Mink” to “Doses of Beaute” to allow for a limitless brand name that could encompass anything I chose to venture into in the future.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is not easy at all. I’ve had my fair share of strenuous situations ranging from difficult clients to issues on chargeback disputes, amongst other things. The possibility of bumps and setbacks does exist in every business industry. However, the important thing and learning lies in how you recover from them. I’ve been blessed to usually come out positive from the receiving end of things, and I pray that business continues to be successful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for a while; Like in any industry, best practices are constantly evolving, therefore, I strive to ensure that I am updated on the latest tips and tricks while continuously learning and mastering my craft each day. I currently specialize in individual eyelash extensions and non-invasive body treatments for fat loss and I have been able to work with over 100 women in attaining their natural body goals. I also have an e-commerce store where I sell ready-to-wear HD wigs, bundles, clip-ins, my at-home lash system, and much more to come. Starting off my career as a home-based lash technician and now operating in my own studio is truly a mission accomplished. Without a solid clientele, it is truly hard to venture out on your own. What has kept me afloat are my clients. I believe in the service I provide, along with the rapport that I am able to build with these people, allowing them to not only trust my expertise but also refer others to me. I couldn’t be more thankful for every client that I have come in contact with throughout my career.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
“Business is Business,” and that’s a motto I always keep at heart. As a service-based provider, it can sometimes be challenging when there is need to reprimand a client. Many times, it can alter the dynamics, but again, “Business is Business” and you shouldn’t allow the friendly rapport with a client to overshadow the fact that they violate your policies. Your policies are the boundaries that keeps excesses in check, and should not be compromised on, especially in business. I am goal-driven, highly disciplined, and intent on customer satisfaction. I believe these qualities have been pivotal in my success and business sustainability. My services are personalized to each individual client’s needs.

My ability to surpass their expectations comes with knowing and understanding who my customer is at the core and their specific needs. Some clients enjoy my services because they’re able to come in, chat with me for 10 minutes and then wake up from a beauty nap with a fresh set of lashes or brows, while others come in and it is a non-stop conversation from the moment they walk in, until I’m walking them out. It really all varies and whichever experience the client likes is the experience I provide. I’m readily adaptable to make sure that my clients have the most comfortable and welcoming experience while in my care. What’s the saying? “The customer is always right”. There’s definitely truth to that for sure!
