Hi D Yvonne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Phoebe Marketing Group in July of 1997 after observing so many business owners failing to succeed. I know how to start and grow businesses from a child of 8 growing up on a dirt road in rural VIrginia selling customized Christmas cards to purchase my only bicycle to running a business in college to pay for my tutition fees. as a pre-med student
.
Phoebe Marketing Group has grown globally and allowed us to build teams in Kenya and Rwanda of young African women who are focused, intelligent, and invigorating to work alongside. We collaborate with partnershps across over 30 countries around the globe. We will be establishing a home in Nairobi, Kenya in 2026 to travel quarterly between Washington, DC and Africa.
My personal life has also become a business as Birth Moms Real Talk Podcast and Community . I experienced the loss of my son in 1973 when he was placed in adoption because of no family support. Our journey has included a reunion after 45 years and now 8 years in buiding a relationship and growing through Grace and Healing to know each other. BMRT Podcast was started in 2021 and after 4 years , we have over 50K downloads and listeners across the globe .
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not by any means,it has not been EASY. financial , emotional , discrimination to start. It is HARD being an entreprenuer.. We have to wear many hats at the same time , even with a team . It is lonely as a CEO , especially as a woman , and woman of color . I experience to this day in 2026 , discrimination of being embaraced as a global business expert in the midst of other male CEOs.
We’ve been impressed with Phoebe Marketing Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a global business development, marketing and training company established in 1997 and have grown globally with She Phoebe Glbal Inc. with businesss registrations in Kenya and Rwanda, East Africa .
We have the unique distinction to “Be the Catalyst to Your Business Success’ , in other words, what sets us apart is we create a ‘ Roadmap to Success for Business Owners.”
We are most proud of seeing the success of all who have ‘ Traveled the Path of Phoebe ” . We hear from business owners who we trained 20 years ago or 3 years ago or 3 days ago say ” Phoebe , you were sitting on my shoulder’ whispering to me what to do” all these years.
I have branded myself as Phoebe , as a name , Phoebe was a servant and woman business owner from ancient time in the Holy BIble . We want readers to know that , ” You can Count on Phoebe to Lead You and Your Business to Your Business Goals “
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I have learned to ” Trust my Instincts ” and Know My Value” . I believe that ” Everything is Either a Lesson or a Blessing or both. ” We Never Fail , We Always Succeed in Producing a Result, If We Do Not Like Our Results, We Simply Change Our Actions, We NEVER Fail .”
