Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciera Nicole.
Hi Ciera, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a two-time former pageant queen who was crowned Miss District of Columbia USA and Miss Maryland United States. However, never in a million years did I think, I’d own a pageant coaching business. I was not a toddlers and tiaras girl, nor did becoming a teen beauty queen cross my mind. In fact, watching Miss USA and Miss Universe growing up, I always felt like those women were untouchable. But things took a turn for me in college.
I competed in my first pageant at the age of 21. I didn’t have a coach, and I didn’t have a clue to what I was doing, but I did it anyway. At the end of that first pageant, I didn’t win, I didn’t even place, but I received the best in interview award. That result told me everything I needed to work on.
From there I set the goal of getting on the Miss USA stage at the forefront. I worked harder than I ever have for anything in my life and two years later, my dream became a reality.
I fought against negativity and discouragement by turning it into fuel to keep me going. It made me a stronger person.
Because of all of this, I fully understood and believed in the idea of setting a goal, and working incredibly hard for it. Pageants taught me discipline and resilience, two important qualities of success. I wanted to teach this to other women. I wanted to help other young ladies work hard and reach their goals, and I wanted to introduce a new world and new resources that cultivate rewarding relationships and opportunities to the young ladies is my community. This is how I got started and it’s why I keep on going.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh, it wasn’t smooth at all. The toughest part was defending why I was doing this to my family. They thought I was wasting time and money, and they didn’t see the benefit. I remember when I competed in one of my national pageants, the only person in the audience for me was my mom. She was always my biggest cheerleader.
Other than constantly defending myself, there were days when I didn’t feel like working out or practicing, but I did it anyway, because I knew the harder I worked, the better competitor I’d become.
We’ve been impressed with Crown Bound Pageant Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Crown Bound Pageant Consulting provides full service pageant coaching for all pageant types and systems. Established in 2014, Crown Bound Pageant Consulting has been operating and coaching local, state, and national winners up and down the east coast.
What sets me apart is that I’ve done the work and I actually care about the work I do and my clients.
Pageant coaching is one of the most valuable self-development trainings to invest in. My services include interview training, on stage presentation training, image consulting, & confidence building.
My goal is to help other women become the best versions of themselves without changing who they are at heart.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is all of my trips to Disney World. My family used to go every other year for about 6 years.
