Exploring Life & Business with Cassandra Straughter of Cassie Moments catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Straughter.

Hi Cassandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Cassie Moments Catering was born from a passion for bringing people together through food and creating unforgettable experiences around the table. What started as cooking for family, friends, and small gatherings quickly grew into something more, as people were drawn not only to the flavor, but to the care, creativity, and intention behind every dish.

My business is built on the belief that life’s most difficult seasons can still produce something meaningful—and every event is an opportunity to create a moment worth remembering.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Things were progressing well and I took the bold step of leaving my good government accounting job with the Department of Defense. I was working full time on the truck as well as catering and even got a permanent spot at Tanger Outlets National Harbor. While there have been recent setbacks along the way, like divorce and relocating, I continue to push forward! I’m balancing my commitment to my health while steadily growing the business in a new location with unwavering determination.

Today, Cassie Moments stands as more than a catering, food truck and meal prep business—it’s a reflection of perseverance, faith, and purpose. Every plate served represents not just quality and flavor, but the strength behind the journey and the commitment to keep going, no matter the obstacles.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Cassie Moments catering?
With that resilience at its core, Cassie Moments has evolved into a full-service catering brand known for bold flavors, professionalism, and memorable experiences. From intimate gatherings to large-scale events, food truck service, meal prep and community celebrations, every event is approached with intention and heart.

Any big plans?
Future plans are to create a commissary kitchen to help others enter the market. I would also like to host my own events to create community connections.
