Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Shapiro.
Hi Brittany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have worked in the field of pediatric nutrition for 12 years. I love helping parents navigate how to feed children with varying nutrition needs and empowering children with age-appropriate nutrition knowledge. I received my degree in dietetics from the University of Maryland and went on to complete my dietetic internship at the National Institutes of Health. I worked as a pediatric dietitian at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for over 8 years. I started my private practice, Capital Pediatric Nutrition in 2017. I specialize in picky eating, complex feeding problems, growth challenges, gastrointestinal issues, food allergies, infant feeding, as well as family mealtime struggles. I also have nutrition experience at home feeding my two little ones.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to entering the field of pediatric nutrition has felt pretty smooth. I was surround by 20+ pediatric dietitians when I worked at the hospital and was able to learn a ton from their expertise. I never received any formal training about how to start a private practice so this process has been more of a learning curve. I have learned a lot over the years and am fortunate to have a lot of family members and colleagues who have served as mentors to me.
As you know, we’re big fans of Capital Pediatric Nutrition. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
