Exploring Life & Business with Britney Butler of The Dual Career Agent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Butler.

Britney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a child, I always wanted to be in law enforcement. I attended Virginia State University and graduated with a bachelor’s in Psychology. After graduating from college, I pursued my childhood dream and become a Deputy Sheriff. While at the start at my new career I attended Capella University and obtained my Master’s Degree in Public Administration. I have always had a keen interest in Real Estate. So I decided to take the course to obtain my license. I fell in love with Real Estate and quickly it became my passion. I now get up every morning loving what I do and it does not feel like “work”, it’s fun! I get to meet so many families and businesses that need assistance in selling, investing, buying or even renting. I enjoy providing the guidance and knowledge to my clients in order for them to make an informative decision about one of the biggest purchases they will make. It is imperative to me that I give all the information necessary in the process when it comes to Real estate because I believe once you have the knowledge and understanding you can make the best decisions for yourself and no one can take from you what you know.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been unique. I have experienced a life altering event in my line of work as a police officer which has catapulted me into my Real Estate Business. Life does not prepare you, you just live it.

I have learned that you may envision your life one way, however, that may not happen the way you see it. If I did not have my business already established I would have became lost in my grief and anxiety of my traumatic experience in my law enforcement career. I have learned that all things in life do surely happen for a reason. Rather, you feel as though you prepped for events to happen or not most times the outcome is not what you projected.

I have since channeled my experiences as an officer and a Realtor into a collaborative space for agents that have a full time career and are or want to run a business. I felt the need to give this service because I was able to generate millions while I worked a demanding job in law enforcement. I believe it is important for others to know that despite your obstacles and challenges you can obtain and achieve all you desire.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Dual Career Agent?
As a Dual Career Real Estate Agent there is not enough light shined on us that gives us the courage that we can succeed. We hear so much about how we should become a Full time agent to see our Business enhance. But what if that is not an option for everyone initially?

It is important to have the accountability partner for your goals, dreams and aspirations in your business.

I have proven that I can be a realtor with a full time career and be able to be successful in my own way. I have generated over millions 🤑 in sales as a dual career agent. If that’s not amazing, let me hear what you have that is better.

Having a mentor to explore strategies and support structures you need to succeed in reaching your real estate dreams and goals is a must. I have found that this mentorship has helped others create a customized, systematic plan that allows them to step by step reach their goal.

Believe in yourself, believe in your business, and set goals that are achievable to you. Obtaining success is measured by your definition not society!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Native to New Jersey where I grew up and lived until I was 18. I had a loving and supportive family that pushed me to achieve all I wanted and always let me know there is more to life than what we see in the “now.” I was taught that education was important and it is the one thing that will always allow you to grow and excel to meet others and explore places you have never been. I was president of my High school class and spoke at our High School Graduation. I played tennis and danced in our African American club. These attributes carried over into my college years. When I attended Virginia State University I became founder/president of the Russian Club and was able to reestablish the NAACP Collegiate chapter on campus. I was a Resident assistant from sophomore year until my senior year and worked part time at dollar tree. Through all these experiences I grow long last relationships and friendships forever.

It is not enough to just be a leader you have to implement the steps conquer them and then pass the torch to those that follow behind you. As the oldest of three that came natural. And so my role in leadership became impactful to those around me and I admired those before me that laid the groundwork for me to be able to have the chance to impact others as well.
