Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Curry.
Hi Amber , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all began when I was younger. I always had a love to dance. My passion for dance increased as I got older but I did not really have direction and purpose until I began to walk with Christ. Through many trials such as divorce and being a single mom of four wonderful children, I can honestly say that it has been only the Lord and my community who has truly brought me through major transitions in my life. Walking with Christ ,my passion for Him began to spill out in my movement and my dream of just owning a studio begin to change. I looked towards our community and I noticed a need in the education world. With much prayer and counsel, I began developing programs that help students academically in a creative way. In this curriculum, we take all art forms and integrate them into academic learning. Our program uses with all forms of art with a focus on mental health. It is designed to integrate dance and other art forms to boost students’ success rates in the classroom. By incorporating the arts, we aim to enrich the educational experience for both students and teachers. Our after school program is a dynamic space where we bring art integrated education to all students, providing them the opportunity to combine the arts and academics in a meaningful way. We have dedicated our services to several school communities. These past few years we have been able to impact over two thousand students and families across fifteen schools. It has only been through obedience to the Lord that our company has been able to impact the community. We look forward to impacting more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles was navigating transition in my personal life of being a single mom. I had to change my perception of parenting as well as not letting fear of the future hold me in a place of convenience. I realize that many of us choose to stay in situation that is no longer good because we are fearful of what we do not see. It took faith, obedience , restoration and community to navigate this challenge. This challenge and many others has truly transformed my heart and gave me strength I did not know I had . It has not always been a smooth road but I recall the scripture Romans 5: 3-5 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
This obstacle and many others has produced a changed heart,not one that is bitter but one that can look at the past and laugh and say thank you!

I am the owner of Xpressions International Dance Company. Our mission is inspiring and impactful, seeking to express the word of God with creative expression in a unique and vibrant way. Through productions, community programs, and educational initiatives, we are not only making God known ,but also fostering a community where creativity and the Father’s heart coexist harmoniously. Xpressions is known for immersing people into all art forms to convey a message that impacts peoples lives. Our vision is to build our community through arts integration, financial literacy and mental health by developing programs ,productions, and schools that express the Fathers Heart towards people. We eventually will become a school that will focus on art integrated subjects, financial literacy and mental health.
I am mostly proud of the impact that we have been able to do through our partnerships with school system in Maryland. We have been able to impact students and families in a positive way, which has caused us to expand our program throughout Maryland.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I have learned in my journey is that it takes obedience to the Lord , faith and community to do anything. Faith is more then just agreeing with your heart and your mind, it takes action. Our Faith should have legs that run towards what God is calling us to do.
I have also learned, in isolation we make foolish decisions. Wise counsel is all encompassing and the reason why you do anything should always lead back to Christ. Christ will always be my foundation and He alone is my reward.
