Deserie Johnson of Ellicott City, MD on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Deserie Johnson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Deserie, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently, I felt extremely proud of publishing two STEM story coloring books for children. Legga the Itchy Hero teaches children how to live with eczema and Lola’s Lymph Adventure is the 1st of its kind teaching children about their lymphatic system.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Deserie T. Johnson, a warrior, healer, and holistic health practitioner, founded Sacred Soulutions after conquering lung cancer and continuing to battle multiple chronic illnesses. Her own healing journey ignited a passion to help others detox, reset, and reclaim their wellness—naturally. Through non-invasive therapies, lymphatic care, and soul-nurturing support, Deserie created a sacred space where healing isn’t just possible—it’s personal. Sacred Soulutions was born from her belief that the body knows how to heal when we listen, love it, and support it holistically.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
At 7yrs old, I won a school competition to introduce the then Mayor Marion Barry at his inaugural luncheon. I received a standing ovation and felt very powerful in that moment.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In my early 20’s I was a single mother of two with major health issues and life was extremely hard. I almost gave up. I had suicidal thoughts but God!!! Instead of a period, I paused like a semi-colon, sought therapy and began my healing journey.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is 100% me. I believe in presenting my authentic self at all times no matter where I am. I’m artistic, quirky and in my own lane. I love it here!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I feel I understand maximizing the moment more than most. Once you’ve been at death’s door, you see life differently because you fully understand that we are but a breath and tomorrow isn’t promised.
