Damond Nixon’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Damond Nixon and have shared our conversation below.

Damond, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
The art of creating. It can be me writing books, playing music or engineering parts and designs for my motorsport company. This makes me lose track of time. I always find myself on the other side though.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I write sci-fi books, produce music and design cars/fighter jets. Right now, I am writing a new trilogy called The Aetherverse Protocol. Here is a synopsis… The Aetherverse Protocol: Trilogy Synopsis

Page 1: Book One – The Foundry Key

“In a world where reality is underpinned by a fragile, energetic dimension known as the Aetherverse, three lifelong friends are on the verge of a discovery that will shatter everything. Kaelen, a fiercely independent and intuitive inventor, operates out of a clandestine lab, continuing the work they began as kids. He is aided remotely by his older brother, Dr. Kaleb, whose dual PhDs in Astrophysics and Electrical Engineering from MIT provide the theoretical backbone for their experiments. Their third pillar is Amanda, a brilliant mechanical engineer with a pragmatic mind and a knack for building anything she can imagine.

Their childhood dream, dubbed the Aetherverse Protocol, was a theoretical framework for interacting with the foundational energy of the universe. That dream becomes startlingly real when a mysterious, crystalline Aetheric Wafer activates in Kaelen’s lab, projecting a unstable star map. Recognizing the immediate danger and immense potential, Kaelen calls his siblings-in-all-but-blood: pulling Kaleb from his academic post and Amanda from her engineering job.

As the trio works to stabilize the signal, they decipher that the map points to the location of a Foundry, a mythical generator capable of stabilizing or destroying the dimensional barriers of the Aetherverse. However, their breakthrough attracts the attention of the Orion Syndicate, a powerful and ruthless megacorporation that seeks to weaponize the Aetherverse and monopolize its power. Led by the coldly efficient Director Valerius, the Syndicate attacks Kaelen’s lab, forcing the trio into a desperate chase across a neon-drenched city.

Using Kaelen’s custom-built tools—including his Reality Calibrator and Null-Wave Jammer—they barely evade capture. Their flight culminates in a final stand within a central server room, where they must successfully initiate the Protocol to emit a massive, neutralizing energy wave that disables the Syndicate’s tech without harming them. They win their first battle, but the victory is short-lived. The stabilized hologram from the wafer now clearly displays a new, ominous threat: the glitching, jagged symbol of a mysterious faction known as the Void Scribes. The race for the Foundry has just begun, and new players have entered the game.”

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Pride. Pride can lead to people hurting others and never admitting it. Everyone cannot deal with this level of pride. It is unhealthy.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Of course, I just tell myself that I have to wait until next season comes. That next season comes as soon as tomorrow or as long as weeks on end.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
The smartest people should be proving their genius by making the world a better place for everyone. This can theoretically be done if all the “smarty pants” gathered around and made themselves useful. Reminding everyone that you are smart in today’s world is like yelling down towards a person who fell off of the boat, saying “I am going to be ok, I have a life jacket. Plus, I love it up here, the water is probably too cold anyways”. This is just you telling us how great your situation is. This helps nobody. Not optimizing the world to me, is stupid.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
Nothing is real.
