Today we’d like to introduce you to Zenobia Dyson
Hi Zenobia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I remembered the dream God had placed in my heart at the age of sixteen years; maybe I had forgotten about it or I just dismissed the idea because it was too big of a job for someone like me to do. I felt like there was no possible way for me to attain it. I don’t know…it was this burning passion in my heart, it was this thing inside of me that lingered around in my mind, it was a stirring in my sprit when I saw other people doing what I had a desire to do. I would get excited as a teenager to be asked to do someone’s hair or apply their make-up. Somewhere in my life I laid that dream down and wished it well, it was like me saying “see you later and forget-me-not” kind of thing. It was too impossible, or I wasn’t good enough to bring this dream to life.
Sometimes life will have you caught up in disbelief, questioning yourself, doubt, and then you lose the excitement because you don’t have the support, the journey of it feels unfruitful and too long to get where you need to be. At that age, we want dreams to magically appear the next day and when they don’t come tomorrow, we lose our heart, and we forget about dreaming! When we forget about those dreams God seems to make them dance in our heart again to give us just a little insight to say don’t lose your pep in your steps. Trust me that dream went dormant so many times and so many times that feeling prompt me, tugged on my heart and pulled on my spirit strings to get my attention. It just would not go away; it was like a child tugging on your clothes trying to get you to look at him/her.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest obstacle and the biggest challenge was taking the first step! There is always going to be some unique challenges that are difficult to overcome. This is not a rags-to-riches story! There are entrepreneurs that experience sunshine and rainbows, there are many others living under the gray and stormy skies. In my mind, I kept asking myself will people like my services and products. I was always wondering how long my business or this dream was going to last.
