Daily Inspiration: Meet Toni Bossalina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Bossalina.

Hi Toni, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

Hi, my name is Toni Bossalina, LCSW-C. I have been a clinical social worker for the past 13 years and am the owner of a growing private practice. I began my career at Key Point Health Service after graduating from college, where I worked with individuals and families across home-based, clinic, and school-based settings. Working in some very challenging environments with complex cases shaped my clinical skills and helped me grow into a confident and resilient clinician.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I made the decision to leave an OMHC where I had worked for seven years and transition into starting my own telehealth private practice. Nearly five years later, my practice continues to expand. In addition to clinical work, I provide supervision to LMSW clinicians at multiple agencies throughout Maryland and am actively pursuing opportunities in teaching and higher education, with the goal of becoming a professor.

Outside of my professional life, I am a proud mother of two beautiful daughters who bring tremendous meaning and purpose to my life. I have been married for 12 years to a supportive and loving partner. I was drawn to the field of social work in part due to my own lived experiences—I grew up without knowing my father, which I struggled with for many years. While this remains a part of my personal journey, it has also deepened my ability to help clients process past trauma, heal emotional wounds, and find lasting growth and resilience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Putting myself through graduate school was one of my greatest accomplishments. I worked throughout both my bachelor’s and master’s programs and completed both of my degrees within seven years. Growing up with a single mother shaped my work ethic, resilience, and determination, and those experiences continue to influence both my personal life and my work as a clinician.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

As an LCSW-C, board-approved supervisor, and private practice owner, I provide both clinical services and professional mentorship. My work focuses on helping individuals manage anxiety, OCD, depression, and trauma through evidence-based, compassionate care.

What sets me apart is the combination of extensive clinical experience and lived understanding. I bring over a decade of hands-on work across diverse and often complex settings, which allows me to approach each client with depth, flexibility, and realism. In addition to direct client care, I am deeply committed to supporting and supervising emerging clinicians, helping them build confidence, ethical practice skills, and sustainable careers. I believe in meeting people where they are while providing the structure and tools needed for meaningful, lasting change.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next five to ten years, I envision continued growth and expansion of my practice, including bringing additional clinicians onto my team to better serve the community. I am also working toward transitioning into teaching and hope to become a professor at a local university, where I can mentor future social workers, share clinical expertise, and contribute to the development of the next generation of professionals.
