Daily Inspiration: Meet Tania S.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania S.

Hi Tania, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Tania S, but some people call me Ni-Ni. I was born and raised in Prince George’s County, MD. My photography career started in high school. I would go around taking pictures of everyone and editing them for Myspace. I used to love counting how many people had my images as their profile images. Back then, I used a point-and-shoot camera. In my first year of college, I received a refund check for $1,300, and I used that to buy my first semi-professional DSLR camera. That camera took my career to the next level. I shot my first wedding and started charging people to take their photos. My prices were beyond reasonable, lol, just enough to grab lunch and get a full tank of gas. I took myself seriously, got my first website, and registered my business with the State of Maryland. I am also a graduate of Morgan State University. I have a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. For my full-time job, I review and write permits for roadway construction in Montgomery and Prince George’s County.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
My journey of being a freelance photographer and Civil Engineer has had some challenges. I had to become an expert in time management and live by my calendar!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My business is named Exquisitely Composed Images, LLC. I came up with this name because my images are composed exquisitely! I’ve been shooting since 2010, and over the past decade, I’ve photographed: Weddings, Engagement shoots, Portrait sessions, Branding sessions, Maternity shoots, Family photos, DC Fashion Week, Fashion Shows, NBA games, Conferences, Banquets, Galas, Birthday Parties, and Real Estate. I love the joy my photographs bring to my clients. I especially love working with people over the years and seeing photos I’ve captured hanging up in their homes.

What matters most to you?
Professionally, my clients matter the most to me. I strive to ensure they are comfortable and have an excellent experience from when they first reach out, the actual shoot/event, to the final images being delivered. Personally, God, my family, and my dog Blaque mean the matter the most to me.
