Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Lee and Robert Alex.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We built Wolves Art Collective as a home for our ideas and interests with the skills we have acquired over the first half of our professional lives. A few years ago we found ourselves settling in the hustle and bustle of our careers and wanted something different.
We turned our creativity and passion into our business and brought our dogs along for the ride. We started with acrylic paintings, a hobby of ours for some time. We started sharing and selling them among friends and locally. We set out on a path that has led us to produce Kid Head Start Art Kits, apparel and accessories, and collaborative soap for dogs and humans.
We continue to let our creativity spill into new things and experiment with innovative ways to “grow” our multifaceted art business. We simply want to create things and share them with you.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have come a long way. Staying focused and dedicated while life continues is a constant exercise in balance. One of the major difficulties has been navigating the business landscape while trying to do things differently. It has been a challenge staying steady on what works for us as opposed to what other businesses are doing.
Every challenge we approach as an adventure and appreciate every experience we have had. It has been a wild ride. It has its ups and downs, triumphs and losses. You have times where there is a lot of change, progression, and some luck. And then there are times of heavy planning, execution, and failure. All these experiences make our business what it has become.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are multidimensional creators. We create acrylic on canvas paintings and have spread them into digital content such as NFTs and creating online advertising content for other artisans. Our highest-selling item, Kid Head Start Art Kits, allows children to create a one-of-a-kind hangable painting. A great way to introduce kids to art. It has been a product we are incredibly proud of.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
During the Covid-19 Crisis, we had to make a lot of adjustments. With markets and festivals shut down or postponed, we had to crossover to mostly online sales. Many other artists like us were experiencing the same challenges during the Covid-19 crisis, and needed to increase their visibility and/or e-commerce and it was rewarding to also assist others.
