Daily Inspiration: Meet Ritchie White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ritchie White.

Hi Ritchie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
There were two things I wanted to be when I was a kid: A photographer and a fashion designer and I’m lucky enough to have become both things. My journey into photography started in 2012 when I launched my eyewear company, the Ritchie white company. Success came super fast. I was featured on television, I gain celebrity clients and featured in a lot of publications. With social media growing so fast, I knew that I needed fresh pictures of my products on a consistent basis. The photographers that I reached out to help me with this either wanted to charge me a super high price, flaked out on me or ignored me all together. So I decided to make some money and invest in my own photography equipment and enroll in YouTube university (lol) to learn how to use my equipment and it’s been an amazing journey in my love of photography since then.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
On the photography side, it has been smooth because I literally just do it for fun and I let the opportunities come to me. But on the fashion side, that has been the thing I’ve had to go through. Starting a business with no business knowledge or no knowledge of the industry was the first struggle. Then just dealing with all of the personalities and competition was a lot too. I had to shut down my company in 2016 because I mentally couldn’t handle it. But with therapy and support from my mother and close friends, I’ve become confident enough to relaunch in 2022.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As far as my photography work, I love to shoot cityscapes, landscapes and just environmental things. I just love to be around nature, architecture and structures. I also like my photos a little unnatural. I want my work to look ethereal or celestial I have the biggest imagination so I want to display that in my art.

In regards to my work as a designer, I specialize in accessories. My work is very flashy, very gaudy and edgy. And my most proud moment is when I was named 2014 eyewear designer of the year by face on a magazine.
