Daily Inspiration: Meet Peter Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Jordan.

Peter, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in 2012, an opportunity was brought to me to be a part of a new transportation company. So naturally being from a business family it was a natural yes. From there I focused on growing the business. We started at one nightclub in the downtown Richmond area. And by 2017 we were located at over 6 nightclubs and 3 restaurants with around 18 employees. But as any business owner knows, you have your good days and then you have your bad days. So in 2018, we took a huge hit when the majority of our clients started going out of business due to the ever-evolving downtown Richmond.

With the valet division of the company starting to slow down, I decided to shift the focus and create the chauffeur service aspect of the company. Which breathed new life into the business and from there we were able to keep the business alive and still grow. Then the pandemic hit in 2020 but we still managed to stay afloat. We did have to lay off a portion of our staff but we managed to survive the pandemic. Then in 2021, we resumed 2 of our longest contracts, and we have been thriving ever since. Now my focus is to expand into the DC, Baltimore, Carolinas, and Atlanta.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The toughest obstacle is when you start losing clients that you have no control over.

Businesses started closing down and which causes you to let go of staff. The pandemic wasn’t as bad as I thought because it seemed like more people wanted to be driven by a professional driver than any other means of transportation. Also now the biggest thing is retaining and hiring quality staff so you can expand the business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So I consider myself to be a “Renaissance Man” meaning I am good at a lot of things, however, my passion is business. Watching something you created or helped create, then watching it start to grow and evolve and then become a functioning system is a true testament to what we can do when we put our minds to something. I am a co-owner of multiple businesses.

I am a co-owner of American Elite Transportation and 1st Choice Transportation, I am also partnered with 2 clothing lines called OnGodMotivation.com and LoudAmerikaStore.com. In addition, I am the vice president of a nonprofit organization in the city called The Woody Foundation and for over 10 years we have been helping in the community, assisting the less fortunate during the holidays and specific events throughout the years.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My adaptability to any situation, my commitment to greatness, and my dedication to not failing may be my biggest contributing piece to my pursuit of success. I am extremely confident in myself but I am beyond humble enough to understand I still do not know it all and I am always willing to learn and evolve.
