Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele DiMeo.
Hi Michele, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Restaurant Diva and momtrepreneur Michele DiMeo is the force behind the DiMeo Dynasty—a growing portfolio of hospitality brands built on leadership, legacy, and unapologetic excellence. She is the face and co-founder of MONTE Restaurant Development Group and Squisito Franchise Enterprises, overseeing concepts including Squisito Pizza & Pasta, Squisito® Too, Vivi’s Chicken ’n Mac, and the continued expansion of the Tuscan brand into the New Jersey and New York markets.
Before entering the restaurant industry, Michele built a strong foundation in psychology, leadership, and business growth. She earned her degree in psychology from Michigan State University and began pursuing a legal career. She later paused her studies to raise her children—an intentional decision that reflects her lifelong belief that ambition and family can coexist. She plans to complete her legal degree in the future.
Michele’s early career shaped her reputation as a builder and operator. She spent 15 years with LA Weight Loss, joining when the company had 79 locations and rising to Regional Sales Director as it scaled to more than 2,200 corporate and franchised stores nationwide. She later joined the Siegfried Group in Wilmington, Delaware, where she served as Director of the Recruiting Appreciation Program and Business Development, further sharpening her expertise in systems, culture, and scalable growth.
In 2010, Michele married Gennaro, uniting both life and business. Rooted in his family’s Neapolitan heritage and generations of home-style Italian cooking, the couple launched Monte Restaurant Development Group and Squisito Franchise Enterprises with a shared vision: build brands that honor tradition while operating with modern discipline and clarity.
Together, they have bought, built, and sold more than 20 restaurants. Yet Michele remains deeply hands-on and highly visible. She is not behind the curtain—she is the voice, face, and energy of the brand. Whether greeting guests, mentoring teams, shaping brand narratives, or leading media initiatives, Michele understands that visibility is leadership and storytelling is power.
A master marketer and creative force, Michele doesn’t market businesses—she builds brands with presence. From interiors and menus to logos, social platforms, and guest experience, she believes branding is strategy, not decoration. Every detail matters. Every touchpoint reinforces trust, recognition, and loyalty. Her work has helped turn regional concepts into recognizable, respected names—now expanding the Tuscan brand footprint throughout NJ and NY.
At her core, Michele is a proud mother of three and a devoted family woman. She leads as both matriarch and executive, proving that strong businesses are built by strong women who refuse to choose between success and family.
Through Diva and the DiMeo Dynasty, Michele shares her blueprint for building brands, platforms, and legacies—showing entrepreneurs and women in leadership how to scale with integrity, command the room, and own their story.
Michele DiMeo isn’t just building restaurants.
She’s building a dynasty and a legacy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not even close. Building this business has been rewarding, but it has also been hard, emotional, and at times deeply humbling.
The restaurant industry is unforgiving. Margins are thin, the pace is relentless, and the responsibility never shuts off. One of the biggest misconceptions about success in hospitality is that growth only means openings. The truth is that real leadership is tested just as much—if not more—by closures.
I’ve had to make the decision to close restaurants. That’s something people don’t like to talk about, but it’s part of building a real business. Closures aren’t just financial decisions—they impact employees, vendors, communities, and families. Carrying that weight is heavy. You question yourself. You replay every choice. You wonder what you could have done differently.
Some locations didn’t survive market shifts, rising labor and food costs, lease pressures, or post-pandemic realities. Others taught me that a good concept in the wrong location—or with the wrong partnership structure—can still fail. Those experiences forced me to evolve from a passionate operator into a disciplined strategist.
There were also personal sacrifices. I built this while raising three children, navigating marriage, blended family dynamics, and the constant tension between being present at home and being fully accountable at work. There were moments when I felt pulled in every direction, expected to be everything to everyone—and still deliver results.
But the struggles refined me. Closures taught me how to make hard decisions with clarity and compassion. They sharpened my instincts, strengthened my standards, and forced me to build smarter systems, better protections, and more resilient brands.
The truth is, success isn’t avoiding failure—it’s surviving it, learning from it, and coming back stronger. Every restaurant I’ve opened and every restaurant I’ve closed has shaped how I lead today.
I didn’t build this empire by pretending it was easy.
I built it by staying honest, accountable, and willing to do the hard things—especially when no one is watching.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Michele DiMeo is a seasoned restaurant executive, entrepreneur, and media personality with more than 25 years of leadership in the restaurant and franchise industry. Known widely as The Restaurant Diva, she blends operational excellence with bold branding and design-driven storytelling. She serves as President of Squisito® Franchise Enterprises, Inc.—a role she has held since the brand’s inception in 2010—and as Chief Operating Officer of MONTE Restaurant Development Group headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, where she has overseen multi-concept growth since 2008. Michele owns and operates multiple Squisito® NY Pizza and Pasta locations and has played a key role in developing both fast-casual and full-service restaurant concepts. A founding member of the National Pizza Council in collaboration with the National Restaurant Association, she is widely respected for her expertise in franchise operations, brand growth, and restaurant development.
Beyond hospitality, Michele has expanded her influence into media, publishing, and lifestyle branding. She is the creator and host of the Dine & Dish podcast, featuring candid conversations with industry leaders, creatives, and entrepreneurs, and the author of the children’s book The Little Restaurant Diva, which introduces young readers to confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurship. She is also a wine importer through Restaurant Diva Imports, sourcing private-label wines from Veneto, Italy—further extending her signature blend of culture, commerce, and storytelling. Her presence as Restaurant Diva has made her a recognizable force in PR and brand visibility, with appearances on television, podcasts, national stages, and the covers of multiple fashion and business magazines, as well as her syndicated column, Restaurant Diva Speaks, published across New York City.
In 2026, Michele’s story moves to the screen with the launch of the reality series DiMeo Dynasty, starring Michele alongside her husband and business partner, Gennaro DiMeo, offering an inside look at the intersection of family, food, and high-stakes business. That same year marks a major growth milestone with expansion into New Jersey and New York, signaling the next chapter of her hospitality empire. Above all, Michele is a proud mother of three daughters and a passionate advocate for women in leadership. Her impact story is one of transformation—turning vision into systems, personality into platform, and a family business into a multi-dimensional dynasty built to last.
“What I am most proud of is My children. Being a mother of three while building and leading businesses in one of the hardest industries there is will always be my greatest accomplishment. They’ve watched me work, lead, fail, recover, and keep going—and that example matters more to me than any title.”
“What sets me apart is that I’ve done the work from every angle. I don’t lead from theory—I lead from experience. I’ve built, scaled, sold, and closed restaurants. I understand both vision and consequence. I combine strategy with soul, discipline with heart, and I build brands that last because they’re rooted in clarity, authenticity, and family-first values.
That’s my difference—and my pride.”
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My three daughters deserve more credit than anyone. They inspire me every day with their energy, drive, and strong will. Everything I build is with them in mind, and I work hard every day to make them proud and to share every milestone together.
My mother is also one of my greatest inspirations. When my father passed away at just 35 years old, she was left to reinvent her life while raising two small children. She did it with strength, resilience, and grace. Over the course of nine years, she also battled ovarian and breast cancer—never once letting it define her or stop her. Watching her endure, adapt, and keep going taught me what real strength looks like.
I’ve also been shaped by strong, powerful women throughout my life and career—mentors, peers, and supporters who challenged me, lifted me, and showed me what was possible. Their belief in me reinforced my own.
Behind every success is a circle of women—and family—who carry you when things are hard and celebrate you when they’re good. I’m deeply grateful for all of them.
