Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Lofty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Lofty

Hi Lisa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started teaching boot camps in 2006, after I asked about having a fitness ministry at my church. From there, I fell in love with all things dealing with exercise. I became a spinning instructor, a boot camp instructor and a personal trainer. In 2009, I visited Utah with 3 of my good friends and fell in love with hiking. I have organized a ladies only hiking/spa trip every year since then and we’ve been to some fabulous locations. Aside from Utah, we’ve traveled to New Mexico, Vermont, Pennsylvania and Arizona. During the onset of the pandemic when everyone was isolated, my local hiking group grew enormously. It was literally a breath of fresh air to walk outside amongst the trees, soaking in some Vitamin D and chatting with fellow hikers. Currently, I have over 100 ladies registered for my trip next year – Yosemite in California.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been very few struggles. I enjoy meeting people and learning about them. I also am a good “connector” of sorts. Many lasting friendships have been made because of the annual trips and hikes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have a full time job working in the legal department of a Washington DC real estate commercial development firm. I’ve been here for 20 years. My side job is fitness. I’m most proud of the connections that I have made through fitness and hiking. Exercise is key, especially as we age. I’ve had ladies in their 20s as well as ladies in their 80s to accompany me on my trips and hikes.

What does success mean to you?
Success is all in your attitude. If I make someone smile or he or she feels good about him/herself, then I’ve had a successful day.
