Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeffrey Felten-Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Felten-Green.

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been an artist all my life, and I realized this fact at an early age, and it was not until about 10 years ago that I started taking my art seriously and finding ways how I could make my love a career. Today, I create work that addresses racist stereotypes and images by flipping them into positive narratives. I also love color, and this affair is always revealed in my paintings.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been relatively smooth, and the only struggle I experience is sifting through images that could be used in future compositions.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a pyrographer (wood artist) and illustration painter that specializes in addressing racism and racist stereotypes by flipping the narrative by injecting positivity and humor. My work also dwells in fantasy, beauty, and history, which is how I am known. I love color, and the love affair is displayed in all my paintings and crafts. I am particularly proud of my color selections and the stories I create that are not only different but funny, and I love this because I enjoy laughing with myself. This sets me apart from others and the many stories that draw you in by asking the observer to think about what is happening.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I always think and feel positive when I create because I love art, and this sensation radiants out from my work and is responsible for the success I have been enjoying.
