Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamere Toy.
Jamere, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Lor_Kreny, a hip-hop artist and storyteller from Baltimore, Maryland. My music journey started young—not as a hobby, but as a way to work through life’s challenges and find my voice. Growing up, I faced a lot—family struggles, getting kicked out, loss, and the realities of life in the city. Music became my outlet, my therapy, and the path I chose to turn those experiences into something meaningful.
For a time, I worked long hours in a warehouse while dedicating every free moment to writing, recording, and learning how to produce my own music. I built a home studio where I do most of my creative work now. Collaborating with artists like Shoe Gang, Murkemz, and Shore has helped me grow both creatively and professionally.
Currently, I’m focused on finishing my debut album, Kickoff. It’s a project that reflects my journey—the pain, the growth, the resilience—and my commitment to leaving a legacy through my music. This isn’t just art; it’s my story, shared honestly and unapologetically.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey definitely hasn’t been smooth. I’ve faced a lot of personal and professional challenges along the way. Growing up, family struggles and instability made it hard to stay focused and motivated. Getting kicked out and having to figure things out on my own forced me to grow up fast.
On top of that, balancing a demanding warehouse job with my music was tough. There were days when I was exhausted but still pushed myself to write, record, and learn the technical side of production.
I also faced setbacks emotionally — losing my father and dealing with epilepsy has tested my strength in ways that music helped me process but didn’t always erase.
Despite all that, those struggles became fuel for my creativity and motivation. Each obstacle pushed me to work harder and keep pushing toward my goals, even when it felt like the odds were against me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hip-hop artist who focuses on authentic storytelling and lyricism. I specialize in creating music that blends gritty real-life experiences with technical skill — from raw storytelling tracks to club bangers. What I’m known for is my ability to bring emotional depth and honesty to my music while keeping it energetic and engaging.
I handle most of my writing, recording, mixing, and mastering myself, which lets me keep full creative control and make sure the sound matches my vision. For bigger projects like an album, I work with my longtime producer and friend, 24 Degrees, who helps me mix and polish the final product.
I collaborate with other artists in the Baltimore scene and beyond, but my sound always stays true to my roots and personal story.
What I’m most proud of is my commitment to staying true to myself and my craft, even when things got tough. I built my skills from the ground up, learning all parts of the process, and that independence and authenticity is what really sets me apart.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I think we’ve covered the core of my journey and what drives me, but I’d love to add that music, for me, is more than just a career — it’s a way to heal, connect, and inspire. Every track I create is a piece of my story, and my goal is to reach people who’ve faced similar struggles and let them know they’re not alone.
I’m also excited about the future and the projects I have coming up, especially my debut album Kickoff. It’s a reflection of growth, resilience, and the drive to leave a legacy that goes beyond music.
Thanks for this opportunity to share my story — I hope it resonates with your readers and encourages anyone chasing their own dreams.
