Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Guerin. Them and their team share their story with us below:
LLAMAWOOD is a two-sided marketplace, we have suppliers, and we have customers. We call it a managed marketplace because customers buy from Llamawood and then those jobs get posted out to a supplier board, and the suppliers basically choose which ones they want to do. Right now, we deliver to residential customers, restaurants, and campgrounds.
Hunter and his wife took a trip to South America that sparked the idea for LLAMAWOOD. The name LLAMAWOOD is a nod to the South American roots of the llama.
We believe in connecting people around the fire. Right now, we offer on-demand firewood delivery in Virginia, DC, and MD; Long-term, we plan to add operations and sales roles to drive growth and expand LLAMAWOOD nation-wide
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As llamawood grows the major challenge is trying to run a successful logistics business while also building an amazing company where people love getting up and coming into work each day. Scaling llamawood means hiring people and building a business culture and I want to make sure I am doing it in the best way possible.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I am most proud of is that we have been able to expand and serve amazing customers in the DC and Baltimore region. As a former resident of the DC, I am thrilled to be serving this area. I love that I can grow outside of Richmond, especially to the Baltimore area that I know so well and love.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I feel like I have been extremely lucky. I wish I could say that everything that I have accomplished has come from blood, sweat, and tears. But I feel like I have been very lucky.
I think of luck like a door, when it presents itself to you, it is about stepping through the door. I don’t think everything is about luck but when I get the chance I walk through the door.
