Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Kyng Ray.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Record Producer, DJ, Artist Film Composer and Audio Engineer Raymond Starks a.k.a.”Dj Kyng Ray”, a Baltimore native, is a self-taught musician whose musical roots stem from his days in church but his edgy and forever changing sound has been inspired from growing up listening to multiple genres of music and musicians alike .
Initially starting out as a Dj and Artist he was able to create clientele to release multiple mixtapes and albums over the years through his imprint “Points of Crown Media”. His affiliations include but are not limited to, one of the biggest DJ squads the Fleet DJ’s and The Nerve DJ’s.
“Dj Kyng Ray” spent the late 90’s as a session musician for local hip hop and R&B acts eventually receiving his first major break producing for artists Lady Luck, Juvenile, Agallah Don Bishop, and even Madonna just to name a few.
His most recent endeavors include his work as a composer for brands such as Tasha K Network home to one of the biggest bloggers in media currently “Unwine With Tasha K” creating her forever popular theme music and music for her all around brand being “the sound” of the show , his credits also includes brands (Netflix, BET, Tubi Network, Redbull, and many others as a film composer .
Dj Kyng Ray’s mission is to continue to educate, build and break in independent artists throughout the music industry.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I definitely wouldn’t say it was a smooth road, nothing great ever comes easy but its well worth it in the end, you tend to learn from the bumps and turns in the road as well.
Some struggles for me was balancing everyday life with a career its definitely isnt for the weak especially having kids, but I can honestly say mine inspired me alot to continue.

Ill break it down this way, I create the soundtrack to people’s lives.
As a record producer my job is to bring the smallest idea to full fruition, well beyond what my clients are thinking. I try to make it a educational course as well teaching my clients the proper way to conduct the business of music so that they will have longevity.
As a dj my job is to bring vibes and energy to a area no one has ever experienced.
And last but not least my job as a film composer my job is to compliment the visual and show you what the filming didnt capture.
Im most proud when I can make my clients smile and appreciate what ive helped them create/complete.
I would say one thing that sets me apart is the path that was giving to me from the beginning, everyone has their own goal and journey im just living mine.
