Daily Inspiration: Meet Dana Abdalla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Abdalla.

Hi Dana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a floral designer with a deep rooted love for flowers. From my grandmother’s garden to my parents’ shared passion for blooms, I grew up surrounded by the scents of jasmine vines, gardenia, and the beauty of nature in full bloom.

My true passion for flowers revealed itself after I graduated from college and moved to the U.S. I dedicated myself to learning the art of floral design, training in New York City, Los Angeles, and even Italy. Gaining experience from incredible designers to understand different techniques, cultures, and aesthetics. Through that journey, I discovered and shaped my own unique style.

In 2015, I opened my own floral design studio. It’s small, personal, and filled with love. I specialize in creating floral designs for events, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than bringing beauty and joy into people’s most special moments.

Flowers are my language, my passion, and my purpose and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many small business owners, my journey as a floral designer hasn’t been without its challenges. When I first started in 2015, I had a small studio, a big dream, and a lot to learn. Building a business from the ground up especially in a competitive, fast paced industry was not easy. There were slow seasons and moments of doubt.

Sourcing high quality flowers while staying within budget was a constant challenge, especially as flowers prices and availability often fluctuate. Managing the logistics of events, handling last minute changes, and juggling multiple roles from designer to marketer to accountant was overwhelming at times.

There were days I worked long hours, sometimes through the night. And as someone who came into this profession after moving to a new country, I had to build my network and reputation from scratch,

But through all the hard moments, my love for flowers and the joy they bring to others kept me going. Every challenge taught me something valuable. It helped shape me into a stronger, more resilient designer and business owner.

I’m still learning, still growing, and still chasing beauty every day with my heart fully in it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do what do you specialize in, what are you known for ?

I’m a floral designer and the founder of
D Fleur Couture. I create floral designs for events , from intimate gatherings to weddings, special celebrations, and even memorial events. I also design floral arrangements for hotel lobbies and restaurants. I feel honored to be part of those experiences whether it’s bringing joy to a celebration, comfort during a time of remembrance, or elegance to a hospitality setting.

My process begins with getting to know my clients and understanding their vision. I create custom floral plans tailored to their event, offering design options, floral samples especially for weddings and collaborating closely with them.

I don’t just stop at flowers. I help clients coordinate floor setups, color palettes, and overall aesthetics to ensure everything comes together beautifully. I source seasonal blooms, process and design the arrangements with care, and handle delivery, setup, and post event pickup.

With the rise in floral costs, I’ve come to love focusing more on smaller, intimate occasions where I can truly personalize every detail from floral accents for dessert and buffet tables to bar and guest table arrangements. What I aim for with every event is a “wow” factor… something memorable and emotional. Guests are often drawn to my floral designs, taking photos and lingering around them, which always makes me happy.

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of the moments when my clients see their flowers for the first time their smiles, their reactions, and the kind words they share with me. That’s what matters most. And I also feel proud when people recognize my work. When guests walk to a room and say “That must be D Fleur Couture,” I know I’ve stayed true to my style and my heart.

What sets you apart from others?

I believe every floral designer brings something special and unique to their work. What sets me apart is my personal touch and chic style, and my commitment to making each arrangement meaningful. My goal is always to create something beautiful but more importantly something that touches people’s hearts. I take time to really connect with my clients and treat each event as if it were my own. Nothing I do is ever generic. Every flower has a purpose, and every design tells a story.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always drawn to beauty whether it was in nature, fashion, art, or architecture. I had a particular love for old charming homes and timeless design details that tell a story. I come from a family with a deep appreciation for flowers, and my parents played a significant role in nurturing that passion from a young age.

I’ve always had a naturally creative and sensitive spirit, which has led me to seek inspiration from many different sources . I love music especially when I’m designing. It helps me focus, set the mood, and bring emotion into my work. Travel has also become one of my greatest sources of inspiration. Experiencing new cultures and witnessing how beauty is expressed around the world has had a strong influence on my floral design. The colors, textures, and overall atmospheres I encounter while traveling often find their way into my work.

Beyond creativity, I value honesty deeply. I believe in being genuine in both my personal and professional life. I also truly enjoy helping others whether it’s guiding a client through the design process or simply being a source of support. Creating beauty is important to me, but creating meaningful connections is what makes it truly fulfilling.
