Today we’d like to introduce you to Cortez Bull.
Cortez, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in West Baltimore, Maryland, Cortez Bull’s story is one of vision, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to creating opportunities for himself and others. A 2015 graduate of Milford Mill Academy, Cortez took his talents to Delaware State University, where he became a member of the legendary Approaching Storm Marching Band. The experience provided more than musical training—it instilled discipline, structure, patience, and teamwork, qualities that would later become the foundation of his entrepreneurial success.
While many college students were focused solely on earning a degree, Cortez was already thinking about building businesses.
In 2019, he entered the fashion industry with the launch of **Vogue Trendzz Clothing**, a brand that quickly gained attention and was later nominated for Small Business of the Year. Not content with one venture, he expanded his portfolio by launching **LPM Nightwear**, a women’s lingerie and sleepwear brand. Both brands reached an impressive milestone when they were featured during New York Fashion Week in September 2019, placing Cortez’s creative vision on one of fashion’s biggest stages.
As his business footprint expanded, so did his passion for music and artist development.
What began as an interest in music management evolved into notable success stories. One of his early achievements came with the record **”With Me”** by Pludoe and ImaniMarie, which remained on the Apple Music charts for 17 consecutive weeks. His growing reputation within the entertainment industry opened doors to collaborations and business relationships with respected figures such as Grammy-winning producer Zaytoven and recording artist Yung Bleu.
In 2021, Cortez added another milestone to his growing résumé when **”Let’s Be Real”** by Tha Cam and 410Justo earned the International RTA Artist of the Year Award. The accomplishment further established his ability to identify talent, develop artists, and help create impactful moments within the music industry.
Never one to remain in a single lane, Cortez expanded into public relations and media development in 2022. Through strategic interviews, press releases, branding initiatives, and promotional campaigns, he helped independent artists gain visibility and strengthen their presence in increasingly competitive markets.
His passion for creating opportunities led to another major venture in 2023: the opening of **Studio M**, a creative event space designed to bring together artists, DJs, promoters, hosts, producers, videographers, photographers, and entrepreneurs. More than just a venue, Studio M became a platform where creativity, collaboration, and culture intersected.
That same year, Cortez joined **448 Boyz LLC**, a collective of ambitious entrepreneurs dedicated to creating financial freedom, expanding business opportunities, and building generational wealth. The partnership would prove transformative.
In 2024, the group launched its first **Lovers & Friends** event, bringing together artists, creatives, and music enthusiasts for an unforgettable experience. The event’s success quickly evolved into something much larger—a multi-city tour that touched Philadelphia, Queens, Connecticut, and Delaware.
The Lovers & Friends Tour became a celebration of independent talent, culture, and entrepreneurship, featuring an impressive lineup of artists and creatives including LouGotCash, DJ MixxyPayne, HolliTV, R2R Moe, Shani Boni, Jaylanie999, AO Aliente, Samar Foe, SunnySoFancy, Mo Dubb, SnS Icygang, AcitoMusic, FlexPanah, Suu Yungg, and Dave Billz.
By 2025, through the collaborative efforts of 448 Boyz LLC, Vibe Vault News, BuildUrBuzz, SunnySoFancy, and JayRThisIsLit, the Lovers & Friends Tour had grown into a recognized platform that amplified artists, connected communities, and showcased the power of independent creativity.
Today, Cortez Bull stands at the intersection of entrepreneurship, entertainment, public relations, and community development. Whether building brands, developing talent, creating events, or opening doors for others, his mission remains the same: to create opportunities, inspire innovation, and leave a lasting impact on every space he enters.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the greatest challenges I have faced in my life was the loss of my mother on May 11, 2021. Losing someone who played such an important role in my life was a deeply difficult experience and a defining moment in my personal journey. While the loss brought tremendous grief, it also revealed strengths within me that I may not have otherwise discovered.
That chapter of my life taught me the true meaning of resilience, perseverance, and determination. It challenged me to continue moving forward even when circumstances felt overwhelming and reinforced the importance of maintaining focus on my goals despite adversity. Through that experience, I developed an even stronger work ethic, a greater appreciation for time and opportunity, and an unwavering commitment to building a legacy that would make my family proud.
The lessons I gained from that loss continue to influence how I approach business, leadership, and life. It strengthened my ambition, sharpened my sense of purpose, and reminded me that success is not defined by the absence of obstacles, but by the ability to overcome them with courage, grit, and determination.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My professional career has been centered around leadership, operations management, financial accountability, and service to others. Throughout my career, I have held positions that required strong organizational skills, team development, problem-solving, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with clients, families, and stakeholders. These experiences have allowed me to develop a well-rounded professional background while maintaining a commitment to excellence and community impact.
As Business Office Director, I oversee financial operations, accounts, billing processes, collections, and customer service initiatives. My role requires balancing fiscal responsibility with compassionate service, ensuring residents and families receive the support and transparency they deserve. Through effective communication, process improvement, and relationship management, I strive to create positive outcomes for both the organization and those we serve.
In addition to my professional career, I have remained deeply committed to Delaware State University and the legacy of the Approaching Storm Marching Band through my service with the Band Affinity Group (BAG). My involvement with BAG has allowed me to contribute to initiatives that strengthen alumni engagement, support current band members, and preserve the rich traditions of one of the university’s most respected organizations.
Through the BAG, I have assisted with alumni outreach, event planning, fundraising efforts, and member engagement activities designed to increase participation and strengthen connections among generations of band alumni. I have also supported initiatives that provide resources and opportunities for current students while helping to elevate the visibility and impact of the organization within the university and surrounding communities.
What I value most about my professional and volunteer experiences is the opportunity to serve others while helping organizations grow and thrive. Whether managing operations in my professional career or supporting fellow alumni through the BAG, I believe leadership is about creating opportunities, fostering collaboration, and leaving a positive impact on the people and communities we serve.
My goal is to continue leveraging my professional expertise, leadership experience, my love for music, and my passion for service to help build stronger organizations, empower future leaders, and contribute to the continued success of the Delaware State University Band Alumni Group and the communities I am privileged to serve.
How do you think about happiness?
What brings me the greatest sense of fulfillment is serving my community, being present for the people I care about, and helping advance those around me. Whether through mentorship, community service, professional guidance, or simply showing up when someone needs support, I find purpose in creating opportunities and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
One of the ways I express that commitment is through community service initiatives. For the past ten years, I have organized a major service project each year in celebration of my birthday. Most notably, I have led a sock drive to provide over 4,000 essential items to individuals and families in need. What began as a personal act of giving has grown into a meaningful tradition that allows me to use a personal milestone as an opportunity to serve others and bring people together around a common cause.
These initiatives are important to me because I believe true success is measured not only by what we achieve for ourselves, but by how many people we uplift along the way. Seeing the direct impact that community service can have on someone’s day, circumstance, or outlook on life is incredibly rewarding and continues to motivate me year after year.
At the heart of everything I do is a belief that my life’s purpose is to inspire others. I strive to be a resource, a mentor, a supporter, and an advocate for those around me. Whether helping someone navigate a challenge, pursue a goal, discover a new opportunity, or simply reminding them of their potential, I find joy in contributing to their growth and success.
I am happiest when I am serving others because I believe that we all have a responsibility to leave our communities better than we found them. If my actions can inspire even one person to dream bigger, work harder, or believe more in themselves, then I know I am fulfilling the purpose I have been called to serve.
