Hi Christopher, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Christopher Schafer wants you to look your best for every one of life’s great occasions. He takes pride in his work and feels that every garment that he creates is a direct representation of himself. Christopher makes sure that all the details are correct and that you get the best fit possible. He will take the time with you to design the best clothing that you have ever owned. This old world work ethic is not going unnoticed, he was voted Baltimore’s Best Tailor by City Paper in 2009, Baltimore Magazine in 2010, Fashion Awards MD & City Paper in 2012, and Baltimore Magazine in 2014.
Christopher learned the art of measuring & design to create custom clothing while living in London, a city that had a profound effect on his life. He learned from some of the best clothiers in the world and immersed himself in the English culture. Christopher would frequently visit Savile Row and Jermyn Street to gain ideas and inspiration. The end result was a new style which blends European style and fit with comfort to create clean understated lines. This formula produces fashionable, fitted and comfortable clothing that you will love to wear.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s not always been a smooth road… Starting a business from scratch requires lots of tenacity and creativity. One of the many challenges was finding clients and getting funding to build the business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a custom clothing designer that makes suits, shirts, tuxedos, jackets, etc. We’re known for our European style that is comfortable to wear and stylish.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is the freedom to travel and enjoy time with my family away from the business without stress.
