Daily Inspiration: Meet Bryanna Pondexter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryanna Pondexter

Hi Bryanna , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey as an artist started when I was just a little girl drawing bugs bunny on loose sheets of notebook paper. I always knew I’d be doing something with my hands and I knew it had to be in a way where I could be expressive and creative. Before I started doing nails I was working a dead end retail job praying for a way out and a change. I was painting press ons for myself and friends and one of my friends mom recommended me to a local salon that was looking for a new apprentice. Sometime later I was laid off from my retail job and was set to start my apprenticeship two weeks later and it’s been my passion since then. I love being apart of an industry that encourages creativity and is forever evolving. I strive to keep learning new things and hope to become a mentor myself one day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth at all. However, optimism is my super power! I believe that no real journey worth having is meant to be smooth. There will always be struggles but it’s about how you overcome them.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a nail artist, i specialize is hand painted nail art and custom made press ons. I’d say I’m known for my intricate designs and my crazy attention to detail. I’m most proud of my designs where I have full creative control.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
When I’m not doing nails I’m probably listening to an audiobook currently listening to A song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, watching anime or playing video games. Anything that will keep my imagination going and it just makes me happy. It’s also helps me decompress after a super long day.
