Daily Inspiration: Meet Autumn Nikol

Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Nikol.

Hi Autumn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For starters, I am that friend that says “long story short”, but still ends up telling the long story, LOL. I was 7, when I was diagnosed with Vitiligo, a skin condition that causes “the loss of skin color in blotches” and occurs when “cells that produce melanin die or stop functioning”.

I struggled with my image for so long all because of this physical dissimilarity from any other person. One day, I woke up and my face didn’t look like it did yesterday, but I had no idea why, and neither did my parents. After months of searching for a Dermatologist who could actually help (there was one man who asked me if I used separate washcloths for my face and my body, LOL WHAT!??).

Fast forward 9 years later, I decided to stop treatment and keep a piece of it as a reminder of why I am, who I am today. I was 16 years old, a Junior in high school… I decided to shave all of my hair and I dyed it red… for me, this was the end of one journey and the beginning of another. I was now walking in my truth!

I decided I was going to do whatever I could to defy all societal norms when it came to beauty. Fast-forward to me being discovered as a model and knowing that was it, THIS WAS MY IN! I was going to be the girl walking in shows, posing for campaigns, etc. But I was not going to have flawless skin or long hair.

I was going to inspire any woman who may be viewed as “different” because they don’t fit the strict beauty standards of this world. This is when my obsession with all things self-love/self-care/self=growth began. My new goal in life was to inspire women to be the best version of themselves, UNAPOLOGETICALLY. This was a manifestation…

Before I knew it I was a model, a nutritionist, and a fitness trainer! Instead of JACK, I was the JANE OF ALL TRADES. I became the go-to for all things self-care/wellness for my friends and family. I never felt so complete! Being able to do what I love most, which is helping people.

In 2020, when COVID upended all of our lives is when I took a break from modeling and my focus went more into all things wellness. At the time I had 3 personal training clients that turned from in-person to virtual. I was also finishing my last semester at Morgan State University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communication.

It was during that time I adopted this quote…“Working on your personal brand is the new CV.” I was determined to revamp my personal brand so that it mimicked my purpose. I became a social media manager/brand strategist to help others build brands that mimicked their purpose.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has been the exact opposite, but it has been fulfilling, nonetheless.

Balancing becoming a new mother and trying to stay firm in my purpose outside of motherhood is a constant evolution.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wellness creative and a brand strategist. I specialize in building personal brands that are not necessarily niched. These days there are many people that believe the key to building a brand is picking a niche, it isn’t.

During my 1:1 discovery calls I make people truly sit and take self-inventory. If they decide I may not be the best fit for their brand, they will never forget how I made them feel, positively of course.

I am proud of my ever-growing community called The Female Archive that I have created to de-stigmatize women putting their well-being first & building a healthy work/life balance as creatives/entrepreneurs.

What does success mean to you?
Having happiness. Genuine happiness. Being able to achieve goals while living consciously and being true to YOU.
