Daily Inspiration: Meet Antoine Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antoine Allen also known by “TweezDaSwaggyGod”.

Antoine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I like to say that my journey started in Baltimore—falling in love with hip-hop and music. But as far as evolving as an artist, I would say that began in 2009 during my freshman year of college in Miami. That’s when I met my first producer, Don Jarvis. We really connected and bonded and worked on a lot of music together. When we started collaborating, I was able to work on my very first project, Nutty Buddy Lifestyle and that was when the journey really began for Tweez. It was when I was able to put my first body of work together, something that showed me that I can do it. It showed me how music can really affect people in the same way it affected me when I was growing up. It was a wonderful feeling. That’s why it was my number one priority at the time. Music is something I hold very close to my heart. I think from there, my initial journey in Miami really expanded. I went from Miami to Spain to the Czech Republic where I had a life-changing experience. For me, I am always working on my music, even when I am traveling. I am always finding inspiration in new places and people and cities. No matter where I am, I still find the time to create and record. I even shot a music video in Spain. The Czech Republic, however, was different. It really changed my perspective on things. It allowed me to open my eyes as an artist and see how my music can travel around the world. And I knew that once I finished my last basketball season and returned home to Miami, I was going to put everything I could into becoming an artist, into creating a brand for myself, and really building my music on a global scale. When I got back to Miami, it wasn’t long before I decided to make the move to Los Angeles. It was somewhere I just felt I needed to be. LA is a very special city and I knew that being here would open many doors and opportunities so I followed that spirit. It’s been three years now and I love this city. It’s embraced me as a person and as an artist, and my journey is only getting better. I’m truly excited for what the future has to offer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
You go through a lot of struggles as an independent artist, especially when you are trying figure out ways to create music while making sure you are being your genuine self. For me, my music and what I stand for is really about being authentic. I think everything I have ever gone through has served as a learning experience and has brought me closer to being my truest self. I’ve been able to grow from every single experience. A lot of the bigger struggles throughout my journey have been around learning the business side of the music industry and not having that protection or guidance in terms of really comprehending the ins and outs of how everything worked. I had to take the time to learn a lot—I’m still learning—and I think because of that, I have come a long way. I even have my own record label now called Posh Life Entertainment. When I reflect on all of this, I think a lot of it was really about learning how to take ownership. When it comes to the music industry, if you aren’t smart, you can get taken advantage of. You have to learn how to protect yourself and if you don’t cross your T’s and dot your I’s, you’re going to find yourself in situations you don’t want to be in. You aren’t going to feel free. As an artist, you are supposed to feel free so that you can lean into that creative flow and continue to create and grow. Then, when you do come across a label or management, they help to enhance that flow and it becomes a win. When you have your business together, more opportunities arise.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist. I create art in all shapes and forms when it comes to music. I like creating art through the vibrations that come from my music, those vibrations that are going to bring a positive light and frequency to people. But when it comes to fashion and having my own brand, I love to create designs that have purpose and enhance the music I’m creating at the same time. I feel that when you are an artist, you can’t really put yourself in a box. I love both music and fashion, and when it comes to my visuals, I am very hands-on with that. I’m also a producer. I write all of my music and do a lot of the co-producing when it comes to my records. It’s all about building value as an artist and not limiting myself. I like to think I specialize in creating vibrations and those good vibrations all come from the music, the clothes I wear, the visuals I create, and my energy. I live in a state of positive frequency and try to serve as a role model to both those within the industry and to kids. I just always try to be authentic and true to myself. I’m known for being a positive light and for being a positive influence on others. I breathe that positive energy into everything I do. I’m really big on spirituality, and fitness and health are also very important to me. I mean, basketball was my first love before diving into my music career. I’m known for being an artist and an athlete, but what I really want to be known for is being a role model for the younger generation. I want to inspire them to know they are capable of accomplishing anything they put their minds to. I’m a walking testimony to that in terms of my story.

The thing I am most proud of is not giving up. It’s so easy to give up when you don’t get to a place you believe—or other people believe—you should be in. But when you know you have a higher purpose and believe in that which is higher than yourself, there is just something inside of you that just pushes you to keep going. When you believe in something, you work towards it, and you never stop pursuing your dreams. I think one of the things that sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I’m independent and I have my own clothing brand and company. My work ethic is relentless and I think that can be rare to find sometimes. More importantly, however, it’s my journey that really makes me unique. Everyone has their own story and it’s my story that separates myself from others because nobody went through the same exact things that I did. I believe what I have to offer the world is valuable and as an artist, I can inspire people. That is why I do what I do. It’s about knowing my voice can be heard and that I have the ability to touch people on a global scale.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I want my audience to understand how much I value the music I put out there. I create it with purpose and I really want to affect people in a positive way. The messaging and the things we talk about are so important. And it’s not to say that as an artist I’m a perfect human being because I’m not and I’ll always keep it real, but I do want to help people along the way. I think it’s about finding balance and creating art that people can enjoy and resonate with when they listen to it. I am just an artist with a purpose looking to impact people in a positive way and pushing to get heard. I also want to share that my latest record Spirit Animal dropped on August 20. It’s a 14-track record where I really take listeners on a personal journey with me throughout the album. We start at the first track, “No More Pain”, and work our way to the end track entitled “No Problems”. Spirit Animal is a body of work that enabled me to be very honest and vulnerable about the things going on in my life. It’s an album that allows people to digest my experiences and really get to know me as artist—where I come from, what I’ve been through, and where I’m at right now. You get a great vibration from this project and I hope everyone can check it out. It’s available everywhere. If you like good music, this album is definitely one to add to the list. Share the good vibes, share that positive spirit. It’s important. YAHMERRR!
