Today we’d like to introduce you to Alina Phillips.
Hi Alina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into photography began organically, not as a formal business plan, but as a creative outlet during a season of transition in my life. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling and emotional connection, and photography became a way for me to preserve moments that felt meaningful. What started as casually photographing friends and family slowly grew into something more. I realized how powerful it was to give people images that reflected not just how their day looked, but how it felt. As more people trusted me with their stories, I began investing more intentionally in my craft and refining my style.
Over time, my work naturally gravitated toward weddings, elopements, and intimate life moments. I didn’t step into the wedding world with a checklist or a traditional path. Photographing loved ones and small celebrations opened the door to weddings and elopements, where I found myself most drawn to the quiet, intentional parts of the day just as much as the big milestones.
Experiencing my own micro-wedding reshaped how I saw the wedding industry altogether. It showed me that a wedding doesn’t need to be large or traditional to be deeply meaningful. That perspective naturally led me toward elopements and intimate celebrations.
Along the way, I realized my role wasn’t just to document the day, but to support it to help couples feel grounded, confident, and fully present. Stepping into the wedding world this way allowed me to build a business rooted in trust, intention, and storytelling, and to serve couples who want their wedding day to feel truly reflective of who they are.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I don’t think it’s meant to be. Building a photography business required learning how to balance creativity with the realities of running a business, something I had to figure out largely through trial and error. At the same time, growth required stepping outside my comfort zone, investing in myself, and being willing to evolve. Each challenge shaped how I approach my work today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer specializing in elopements, micro-weddings, intimate celebrations, and family portraits, with a focus on moments that feel honest, emotionally grounded, and deeply human. My work centers on connection, the quiet, in-between moments that often mean the most.
What sets me apart is the experience I offer. Beyond photography, I act as a guide and calming presence, helping couples navigate timelines, locations, and logistics so they can stay present and enjoy their day. I’m most proud of building a business rooted in trust and intention, and of creating images that feel personal, timeless, and true to each couple’s story.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is connection, being present with people and creating work that feels honest and meaningful. Photography gives me the opportunity to slow time, even just briefly.
I care deeply about helping people feel seen and supported, especially during significant life moments. That’s why intention matters so much in my work. When couples feel grounded and comfortable, the images naturally become more authentic.
