Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexis Carroll

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Carroll.

Hi Alexis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey with photography began when I was just 12 years old, photographing for my middle school yearbook. In high school, my passion grew stronger as I enrolled in photography classes and became an active member of the yearbook team, where I gained more hands-on experience. After high school, I pursued my passion academically by attending a two-year college specializing in photography, where I earned my associate degree. Since graduating in 2016, I haven’t put the camera down. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several photography companies, including Lifetouch, The Picture People, Legacy Studios, and Stone Photography. Through these roles, I’ve captured a wide range of moments—from senior portraits and school photos to family sessions, sports, and special events.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a photographer definitely has its perks, but the journey has been far from easy. After graduating college, I faced constant rejection while trying to find work in my field. I quickly learned that in photography, talent alone isn’t enough—you need strong connections with others in the industry to access opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. Another major challenge has been staying consistent: regularly producing work, promoting myself, building a brand, and getting my name out there to attract potential clients. It’s something I still struggle with today. The path hasn’t been smooth, but like any business, it’s a constant rollercoaster—with highs, lows, and lessons at every turn.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
While I wouldn’t say I specialize in just one area of photography, I’m open and excited to explore all types. That said, I’m especially passionate about sports photography and portraiture—two genres that bring me the most fulfillment. I’m best known for my portrait work. What I love most about capturing portraits is the ability to highlight each person’s authentic self. Helping people see their own beauty, boosting their confidence, and making them feel good about themselves is incredibly rewarding. Often, clients arrive feeling nervous, stressed, or unsure—but by the end of our session, when they see their photos, I can see the joy and relief on their faces. That transformation means everything to me.With sports photography, it’s the energy that draws me in—the intensity of the competition, the passion, the focus, the drive. Each game tells a unique story, and I feel a deep sense of purpose capturing those moments. It’s not just about action shots; it’s about preserving the emotion and dedication behind every play.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’ve been professionally photographing for nearly 9 years now and I have no plans of stopping anytime soon! My next big goal is to become an NFL photographer or a contracted sports photographer for a major national league. I want to continue telling powerful stories through my lens, capturing the passion, grit, and emotion that make sports so impactful. I dream big because I know if I put my mind and dedication to it I will come true. I truly believe in following your dreams and doing what makes you feel alive. Life is short, and you only live once—so why not chase what sets your soul on fire?
