Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoe Rivera
Hi Zoe, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Four years ago, at 332 lbs, I found myself in the throes of the pandemic. With extra time on my hands, I decided to confront a personal challenge: my health. I dusted off my old Instagram account and, starting small, began a fitness journey that incorporated activities I enjoyed. Dance videos and apps like Fit On became my companions. It wasn’t just about the weight loss – I felt a sense of healing, a chance to address past traumas. Initially hesitant to share online, I eventually posted about my workouts. The response from my followers was overwhelmingly positive, a lifeline during a period of deep depression. Fitness became my constant – a reliable source of strength and solace regardless of my emotional state. Inspired by other fitness accounts, I started participating in online challenges. One of my videos unexpectedly went viral, sparking a supportive online community. Today, I boast a dedicated following, not a massive one, but one that celebrates and motivates each other. Three years and 189 lbs lighter, I’ve conquered a half marathon and am now gearing up for the ultimate challenge: the New York City Marathon.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This journey hasn’t been without its struggles. Two years ago, I battled severe depression and even considered suicide. Fitness became my lifeline. It’s not just about aesthetics, although I do feel great! My workouts are about coping with challenges. There were days when the only motivation to get out of bed was the thought of a workout – the chance to lift weights or run hard. Fitness is deeply personal for me; it’s a powerful tool for managing my mental health.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
People know me for my infectious enthusiasm, honesty, and a touch of goofiness. I’m not afraid to show my real self, and that resonates with others. I’m passionate about supporting local businesses and building genuine friendships with them. My goal is to inspire everyone to find an enjoyable way to get active and rediscover the joy of movement. Fitness is a journey, not a destination, and I love connecting with people from all over the world who share that mindset
