Today we’d like to introduce you to Teniola Akinwuntan.
Hi Teniola, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Teniola, I am a Humanitarian, an Author, a Holistic Coach with almost two decades in the corporate world. I founded a non-profit organization, with a mission to enhance the well-being of the female gender in the society.
My Vision is to empower Women and Increase the capability of women and girls to exercise their basic and valid rights, and help to determine their life outcomes, assume leadership roles, and influence decision-making in households, communities, and societies; with a plan to improve the access of women and girls.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a rewarding path to impact lives positively, I would not call it smooth all the way. It is quite evident this time in the world generally, and bringing it home to Baltimore, There are existing challenges associated with nonprofits, like lack of funds and the inability to measure effectiveness. There are also recruitment and retention challenges that directly impact growth opportunities. Media – Driven issues, Political and Social Unrest are also a part of the present obstacles.
Amidst all of these, we have found the courage to step up, tune out the noise, rethink funding priorities, and consider broader partnerships to advance the common good.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I founded “WOV” with a passion to meet human and community needs. We got licensed as a charity and a Licensed non-governmental organization, with a focus on supporting women and to contribute to change, deal with both concrete problems across the boards and the debilitating psychological effects of powerlessness. The Purpose is basically to position women to excel in their various families, education, health, and wellness.
Our Specialty is mainly to enrich, enlighten and empower women in different phases of their lives through our programs to promote women and empower girls facing unique challenges that require unique solutions to improve their overall social and economic wellbeing.
I am proud of the team and the commitment to meet and exceed our set objectives.
Our signature programs set us apart, by strengthening and improving the quality of life for the female gender. It promotes innovative solutions to fulfill self-sufficiency and self-esteem within the realization of their potentials and aspirations.
How do you think about happiness?
The ability to find Joy in its strength.
The biggest problem that women have is being ambivalent about their own power. Women should feel comfortable with the idea of wielding power. We shouldn’t feel that it detracts from our femininity.
