Conversations with Sharonda Lang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharonda Lang.

Hi Sharonda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Sharonda Lang and I was born and raised in Baltimore. I am a singer, crafter, BCBA, and all-around social butterfly. I started singing when I was about 12 years old in church and I haven’t stopped yet!

I recorded my first single in 2017 after my now manager Corbin Smith introduced me to the recording life. I have a deep love for children and I hold a special place in my heart for those with various disabilities. I am also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in the state of Maryland.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Let me tell you, I wish it was smooth! Every new goal or adventure comes with challenges. I sat for my BCBA certification three times. The third time was a charm! The music business is tough as many people may know. I struggled with deciding if the music was all worth it. is this for me, and if I had the time and energy for it?

I took a break from my music in 2020 to focus on getting my certification. It took some long nights, doubting myself, and finally pulling myself together to get it all done. I am proud to say I picked myself up each time I felt doubt, worry, or even defeated.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I now have two singles that are out! My debut single is titled, “Can I Live”. My second is called ” What You Want”. I love music and singing and just making people happy. I am most proud of myself for releasing them both. I always told people ” I don’t want to be a singer”. I had to realize that singing is not always about the artist.

Singing is about the listener, how they feel and how your music may change them. I strive to make my music relatable. Whether it’s about breaking up or leveling up LOL! I also host a live session every other Thursday called W.A.P Thursday for Worship and Praise. I go live on my social media to just listen to gospel music with my followers, offer encouraging words, and have a good time.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Many people may not know that I am very shy! I am always in the spotlight but it’s not always my favorite place. I still get nervous when singing or speaking in front of others. When singing I always pick a spot in the room and that is my focus. I always scan the room but back to that spot I go!

I know this young lady and I always knew that she would be great in whichever road/role she chose. I think that another part of Sharonda’s success comes from her strong family background. They support her fully. I am proud of the fine young lady she has become. Keep doing what you are doing Sharonda. Stay positive and keep God first 🙏🏽❤.
