Conversations with Niyah Imani Jean-Pierre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niyah Imani Jean-Pierre.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?

Two years ago, I saw my uncle on Netflix doing a voiceover for the series Secrets of Summer, and I thought, “Wow, that’s so cool—I want to do that!” That moment really sparked something in me. My uncle has been a huge inspiration for my acting journey. Soon after, I booked my very first role on PBS KIDS Talk About, and from there, my love for acting began to grow.

My grandmother started my Instagram page and became my manager to help guide my career and support my dreams. For modeling, I’ve always been inspired by Tyra Banks. I used to watch her all the time and imagine myself on the runway. In February 2024, I walked my very first show at New York Fashion Week. Since then, I’ve walked for 10 designers and now walk every season in both NYFW and LAFW.

As an influencer, my dad is my biggest motivator. He believed that I could combine my love for modeling and beauty in a way that would inspire other kids and teens. With the support of my family—especially my grandmother—I’ve been able to collaborate with over 12 amazing brands so far.

But none of this would be possible without my village. My mom is always there at my shows, and my aunts and uncles are cheering me on every step of the way. I’m so grateful for the love and support that surrounds me. It’s only the beginning, and I’m excited for what’s next!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been managing my schedule while attending a performing arts school. Balancing schoolwork with auditions, flying out for fashion shows, filming short and feature films, taking acting classes, and still making time for my own hobbies and friends can be tough. But I’ve learned how to stay organized, stay focused, and most importantly—stay true to myself through it all.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actress, model, and teen influencer. I specialize in bringing stories to life through acting, expressing creativity on the runway and in front of the camera, and connecting with young audiences through fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content. I’m known for my work ethic, confidence, and ability to adapt to both commercial and editorial modeling, while still maintaining my authenticity as a young creative.

I’m most proud of walking in New York Fashion Week and LA Fashion Week for 10 designers so far, being published in 4 magazines, landing my first acting role with PBS KIDS Talk About, and booking my first feature film My Soulmate the Movie, where I star alongside the legendary Marva King. I’ve also collaborated with over 12 brands including Rare Editions, JustStrong, and Elemental Bottles—all before turning 13.

What sets me apart is my drive and the support of my family. I take every opportunity seriously, whether it’s a campaign, a script, or a runway. I bring professionalism to everything I do while staying grounded, humble, and excited to learn and grow. I believe that being young isn’t a limitation—it’s my superpower.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?

Something surprising that most people who know me or my work might not know is that I love animals—snakes and all! I’m also teaching myself how to crochet. My first big project was a baby blanket I made for my little cousin Nuriel. I’m an entrepreneur at heart. I started making handmade soaps and even dabbled in creating lip glosses. Someday, I hope to launch my own line of brands that reflect all the things I love.
