Today we’d like to introduce you to Nico “NNIL” Pires
Hi Nico “NNIL”, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was birthed by a Black woman, I was raised by a Black woman. I was introduced to spiritual liberation through Black women, and so I seek to liberate Black women from oppressive mentalities and viewpoints on their natural spirituality.
Through them, I serve the Black community as a whole.
Secondarily, I’m a supporter and developer of artists. I believe all artists are true channels, and by tapping into this intuition, they can overcome all creative blocks.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I literally had to invent my job. There’s nothing more challenging than creating the interest and value in who you are, naturally. It’s extremely vulnerable, as what you’re offering will frequently be denied, and we can be tempted to identify with our rejection.
The most powerful part has been seeing that value and reach grow, and seeing my personal sense of confidence and resilience grow along with it. I wouldn’t trade it for any other experience.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My mediums are music and dance first. These allow me to most honestly express myself; but in my work I employ Tarot in a multilayered way. My background in creative writing and storytelling allows me to have a unique perspective on my clients’ stories; I’m frequently asked how I “know” what I know.
The truth is, I don’t. I just know stories, and all stories have been told. I simply know how to weave them together.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
To be honest, my whole thing is risk. I woke up one day and said “I want to live for a living.” I haven’t looked back since. In retrospect, the real risk would have been pursuing the paths given to me instead of forging my own.
