Conversations with Le’Quae Mister

Today we’d like to introduce you to Le’Quae Mister.

Hi Le’Quae, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a freelance graphic designer. I have an art background as I love to draw (preferably cartoons). I have always had a passion for art. It grew even more when I won 3rd place in Baltimore City’s 2nd grade competition for drawing. It was a competitive/talented group.

The reward was to win trip to 4D movie at the aquarium to see at time, The Polar express with the other winners. This really allowed me to see that art can reach many people. Later in life, I watched my uncle self teach himself photoshop for flyers, logos and more. As I watched, I grew more and more interested as he teached me the ropes. As soon as I learned, I could not stop. Fast forward to 2017, I decided to start my brand “fantasy designz” which focus on helping others see their vision. I have had the honor to work with many names since starting. A few of the names were, Niakay from Rapgame Tv show, Ebony The Twerking Chief (Hell’s Kitchen runner up), Baltimore event which featured Nipsey Hussle artist Jstone and Nas artist Fashawn. Event flyer for Cash Money Records artist Caskey, and music cover for QC own’s Mark Battle and many more. From all of that, I have really enjoyed doing graphic design. Sometimes it has its ups and downs but it is all worth it, especially when connecting with new people. My services range from Logo making to music covers as the list continues. Now I am looking forward to my next chapter in life as I know there is a new exciting story to be written.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the struggles that I have faced was having to put my foot down on not letting others control you as you work. You have to set rules so you can have time to finish project, look for new clients and maintain time with family and self. It sometimes still a struggle but is now well manage as I have found new techniques and tips.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most known for making logos, flyers and music covers. I am proud of everything that I do. What sets me apart is I am a true artist and I understand others a lot as I was once them.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The things I love about my city is the downtown scenery and how we can get through anything. The thing I dislike is being an African American in the city is hard due to the environment. It is easy for some to get involved in something they was not suppose to. As creatives in my city it is easy to see things that are not the norm. That is one thing that I don’t like about where I come from. Even though that is something most dont like, I love how we overcome any obstacle standing in our way to show that we control the narrative in our environment and can do and will be better.
