Conversations with Lani Mayer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lani Mayer.

Hi Lani, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Five years ago, I decided to get serious about my art. I had a studio full of paintings and I felt the overwhelming need to share my heart with others. Although I had the fears of not being good enough or being too vulnerable, I had to conquer those fears to get to where I am today. I started as a booth at farmer’s markets and art festivals. I made some great connections being in the community and have traveled for shows too. Although I’m currently in PA. I have art in Colorado, in a hair salon in Arizona and in a restaurant in Florida in addition to numerous homes. I now do custom paintings and natal charts in addition to my abstract paintings. I’m excited to see where my art and the future takes me. I hope to make a mural in a nearby city soon!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I was the biggest obstacle to my own success. Being told to be like so-in-so growing up made me doubt myself. When I was my authentic self, I was judged so I lost myself a little to the judgment I faced growing up. However, having to hide myself and rediscover me has made my art and healing journey what it is and I wouldn’t change that for a second.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in abstract acrylic paintings. My work has a gradient of colors and each painting and color resonates with my soul. I am most well known for my healing mandalas and my custom natal charts. I am proud that I have my art in several businesses in multiple states. Thinking back to when I first started this journey having my art in a business was a dream and now I’m dreaming even bigger! I charge all my paintings with healing Reiki energy before they are sent out.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the art and architecture of downtown. I love the stories I learn from different people I interact with. I love the water. I don’t like driving in downtown and the homeless population makes me want to do big things so I can give back and serve the community and help out more than just giving a few bucks.
