Conversations with Kayla René

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla René.

Hi Kayla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been singing for as long as I can remember. It is my first love and my true passion. I started off with singing in Church, got into Opera for training, and then eventually fell in love with all genres. My love songwriting originally stemmed from my love of poetry and literature. I used to keep journals everywhere, I always had something to write on. Now I love telling stories and communication through song.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the obstacles I have faced in my career have definitely been some hard “No’s”, writer’s block, and navigating how to feed your gift and creativity when you are grieving. The last one especially.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Singing, Songwriting, and Entertaining. My favorite artistic outlet is the curation and production of Live music. Creating a memorable concert experience fills my cup like nothing else and I think that is also what sets me apart from other artists.

I also believe that vulnerability that comes with the music I make is appreciated by my listeners. There is always a message and real life experience that is embedded. For example, earlier this year I released a single called “Hold Me” which was a tribute to my older sister who passed in 2020. It memorializes her as well as highlights and vocalizes what grief feels like as well as the longing to see a passed loved one again. Especially in the spiritual sense. Ever since dropping that single I have gotten overwhelming support that I can not be more thankful for as well as the ability to connect with strangers about the loss of their loved ones and being a vessel that can aide in healing.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
