Conversations with Jomesa Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jomesa Boone.

Hi Jomesa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into this work started with a deep passion for serving others, but it quickly became clear that this was bigger than passion—it was purpose. I recognized early on that caregiving isn’t just about meeting needs; it’s about restoring dignity, empowering independence, and showing up for people in some of the most critical moments of their lives.

What began as a calling evolved into a vision, and that vision became Helping Hands Cares, LLC. I built this organization with intention—to raise the standard of care, to create meaningful opportunities for compassionate caregivers, and to provide families and community partners with a level of trust, consistency, and excellence they can depend on.

Every step of my journey has required faith, resilience, and the willingness to lead—even in uncertain seasons. I don’t take credit for where I am today—I give that to God. His guidance has been the foundation of every decision, every opportunity, and every door that has opened along the way.

Today, I lead with clarity, conviction, and a commitment to impact. Helping Hands Cares is more than a business—it’s a movement rooted in service, faith, and excellence. We are not just providing care; we are changing the way care is experienced for families, healthcare partners, and communities.

As I look ahead, my focus is on building a lasting legacy—expanding access to high-quality care, developing strong partnerships within the healthcare community, and creating pathways for caregivers to grow, lead, and thrive. My goal is not only to serve today’s families, but to shape the future of care for generations to come.

I welcome opportunities to collaborate with organizations, referral partners, and leaders who share a commitment to excellence, compassion, and innovation in care.

And this is only the beginning.

“I didn’t just build a business—I answered a calling. And through faith, purpose, and relentless commitment, I’m transforming the way care is delivered and experienced.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building trust in an industry where many families have had negative experiences with care in the past. There are a lot of home care and home health agencies, and unfortunately, when people have been let down before, it can make them hesitant to try again—even when there are agencies like mine that are truly committed to doing things the right way.

Another real challenge has been access to funding and resources. Growing a business—especially in healthcare—requires capital, structure, and support, and that hasn’t always come easily. There have been moments where I’ve had to push forward without the level of financial backing that would make scaling easier, which can be both stressful and discouraging.

I’ve also faced personal moments where the weight of responsibility felt overwhelming. Balancing business, family, and life while carrying the vision of something bigger than myself hasn’t always been easy. There have been times when I’ve felt like giving up.

But even in those moments, I’m reminded that this is not just a business for me—it’s a calling. My faith has been my foundation, and God has given me the strength to keep going, even when things felt uncertain.

Those challenges didn’t break me—they built me. They’ve made me more intentional, more resilient, and even more committed to the mission behind Helping Hands Cares.

As a woman—and especially as a Black woman entrepreneur—I understand the added layers of pressure, responsibility, and barriers that can come with building something from the ground up. But I also recognize the power in that position. I hope my journey encourages other women to keep pushing, to trust their vision, and to know that they are capable of building something impactful, even when the odds feel stacked against them.

I’ve also become deeply committed to raising the standard of care within this industry. Families deserve consistency, compassion, and excellence—not uncertainty. That means holding ourselves accountable, building trust the right way, and delivering care that truly honors the people we serve.

And because of that, I lead differently. I lead with purpose.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the Founder and CEO of Helping Hands Cares, LLC, a faith-based home care and healthcare staffing agency dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality support to individuals and families. My work centers around ensuring that clients can remain safe, independent, and dignified in the comfort of their homes, while also supporting healthcare organizations with reliable, well-trained professionals.

We specialize in personal care, companionship, homemaking, respite care, and support for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and post-hospital recovery needs. In addition, we provide healthcare staffing solutions to facilities that require dependable and skilled professionals. What sets us apart is that we don’t just focus on completing tasks—we focus on the total well-being of each individual, including emotional, physical, and spiritual care.

What I am most proud of is building an organization rooted in purpose, integrity, and faith—one that truly impacts lives. Seeing families gain peace of mind, clients regain confidence, and caregivers grow into purpose-driven professionals is incredibly rewarding.

What differentiates Helping Hands Cares is our commitment to excellence, accountability, and consistency. We are intentional about the quality of care we provide and the professionals we place, ensuring that both families and healthcare partners can rely on us with confidence.

We are actively building strategic partnerships with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, assisted living communities, and healthcare organizations that value quality, continuity of care, and dependable staffing support.

As we continue to grow, our focus is on scaling with purpose—expanding our reach, strengthening our workforce, and aligning with partners and investors who are committed to raising the standard of care in meaningful and measurable ways.

We are not just another agency—we are a trusted partner, a solution provider, and a standard-setter in care.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t view myself as someone who takes reckless risks—I take intentional, purpose-driven risks. For me, risk is not about jumping into the unknown blindly; it’s about having the vision to move forward even when the outcome isn’t fully guaranteed.

Starting Helping Hands Cares, LLC was one of the biggest risks I’ve taken. I stepped into building a business in a highly competitive industry, often without the level of funding or resources that would make growth easier. There were moments where I had to invest time, energy, and finances into something that didn’t yet have immediate return, while still managing the responsibilities of everyday life.

Another risk has been choosing to lead with integrity and high standards in an industry where that isn’t always the norm. It can be easier to cut corners or move faster for short-term gain, but I made a conscious decision to build something sustainable, trustworthy, and impactful—even if it meant slower growth at times.

My perspective on risk is grounded in faith, strategy, and discernment. I believe in doing the work, seeking wisdom, and making informed decisions—but also trusting God to guide my steps when the path isn’t completely clear.

Some of the biggest opportunities in my journey have come from stepping forward despite uncertainty. Risk, for me, is not something to fear—it’s something to respect, prepare for, and walk through with purpose.
