Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Featherson.
Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
WellBody Kitchen initially started as a digital platform to document and archive all the food I was preparing on my wellness journey. As a professional dancer, it was important that I fueled my body with proper nutrients and sustenance to perform at my best. I began shifting my relationship with food to something more healthy, informed, and intuitive. Working in the food and hospitality industry while pursuing my dance career also ignited an interest and passion for food and cooking. I have had the pleasure of working in some pretty incredible restaurants in New York City and Washington, DC including The Modern, The Dabney, and Malibu Farm. Those experiences inspired me to experiment with food through a health-supportive lens. Not only did I want my food to taste and look good, I wanted it to also nourish and fuel me in a way that would help me thrive and sustain throughout the day. To deepen my practice, I became a certified Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I relocated back to the DMV area last year and with the help of my partner I have had the pleasure of helping individuals shift their relationship with food from meal preparation to kitchen detoxes, holistic nutrition consulting, cooking classes, and private culinary experiences in the Baltimore and P.G County area.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have been many trial-and-error on my entrepreneurship journey and I am steadily learning as I go. I am trusting the process and taking in all the lessons.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
WellBody Kitchen (WBK) is a mindful and healthy food and beverage company. We believe that eating well is a form of self-love and care and we are committed to helping our clients build a healthy and informed relationship with food. We offer and educate our clients on health-supportive food and ways to maximize the healing, cleansing, and regenerative power of living whole foods. WBK specializes in plant-based, vegetarian, and pescatarian cooking. I view food as an offering of love and care so when I cook, I put deep love and intention into it. I cook from my soul. WBK’s food is rooted in the tradition of Soul Food and Sunday dinners which was a huge part of my upbringing. We bring the twist by proving that food can be both healthy and full of flavor. We currently offer meal prep, nutrition consulting, and private chef services.
I am most proud of the clients I’ve been able to help. It is truly an honor to guide and inform others on their journey to understanding and defining what wellness looks like for them.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Food makes me happy whether it’s preparing it myself or a unique dining experience I love the detail and creativity that goes into a well-crafted dish.
