Conversations with Jeannie Ly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannie Ly.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started back in 2015, as I recently graduated from University of Houston in Fashion Merchandising. I decided to quit my full-time job, pack all of my belongings, along with my 2 year of son as a mother with child at the time, to moved to New York City. One of my friends gifted me a DSLR camera as a going away gift. He told me to never give up on my dreams and creativity. As I was unpacking in my new place, a new friend I just met, Amy, wanted to help. She was looking through my things and saw the camera. She was really excited about it as she always wanted one for herself. She then started taking photos of me as I’m trying to tell her to stop since I hated taking pictures back then. She then showed me the photos afterwards and that was the beginning of my journey. Our friendship bloomed into us styling outfits together, taking photos of each other, and starting a blog, which became a business working with known brands such as Gucci, Lancome, Missguided, Puma, Blank NYC, Givenchy, to name a few.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth journey. Initially, when I was in college, I wanted to do fashion design and styling which got me into winning top 10 out of 500 designers in the Little Black Dress Competition and editorials published in Vogue Italia and Ellement. Afterwards, I when I decided to move to New York, many weren’t supportive especially since I was a single mom. I didn’t have a plan but eventually content creating accidentally landed into my lap. I had to learn a lot about the business management, networking, spent hours staying up learning about photography, compositions, and editing. Finding the inspiration on where to get started was hard but once I got over that hunch and started, the creativity and imagination started to roll in.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a content creator passionate about fashion and beauty. I enjoy working and specializing with brands that I believe in. Keeping my content authentic is important as it wasn’t always easy to put yourself out there. Many were not supportive of me however I’m glad that I didn’t give up. Pushing myself to learn and getting things done got me this far and I don’t plan on stopping. This was proving to myself that I can do this and be an inspiration to others. It’s okay to take risks and it doesn’t matter what situation that you’re in.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My mom and I spent a lot of time together creating our own pearl and diamond hair clips, sewing my own Barbie doll clothes, drawing, and crafting.

This woman is an absolute stunner and has the most amazing taste when it comes to style. I will attest to her journey and I am consistently motivated and inspired by her will to do more, be better, and achieve greatness. Being a influencer is only one tiny aspect of her life, that shines. She’s a wonderful hardworking mother that strives to provide the best for her son. She also happens to be a wonderful partner to me, her #1 hype man, and I am blessed to have her in my life. Expect big things to come from this babe against BS in the future and please join us on our journey together 🧡
